Bar Mare Donna Clelia

Went today in a large group of 11. The owner sat us and told us about the history of the restaurant. Most of the dishes are his late mother’s recipes. His father was a sweet old man sitting on the balcony above the restaurant - he came down to give out cookies to the young children eating at the restaurant.

Instead of ordering, the owner sent out large, family style dishes - his favorite mother’s recipes. Everything was outstanding.

Fried seafood platter was perfectly fried and well seasoned. Zucchini spaghetti was delicious with smoked mozzarella. And my favorite was the rigatoni with fresh caught squid (he showed us the picture of the squid caught that day).

Definitely give Donna Clielo a try we are so happy we did! Very affordable prices. And let the owner curate your meal if he offers too! Especially if you are a large group!

I have been many times, this is a hidden gem! I am convinced if this was highlighted on any travel show this place would blow up it is so amazing. Food, home style service, and view, it has it all!

Hidden Gem, Sea To Table - The absolute freshest seafood with a beautiful presentation & hospitality. Most likely you’ll be greeted and served by the owner Salvatore who has lived in the house upstairs. Originally owned by his grandfather since the 1930's with traditional Italian recipes from his grandmother. Bar Mare Petit, also known by Donna Clelia feels like you're a friend of the family .... with an amazing table on the beach! Make sure to take home a few bottles of his homemade Lemoncello.

Lovely family owned restaurant with very helpful and friendly staff. The dishes we ordered tasted excellent, and the prices fair for a restaurant with such amazing views. We ordered the spaghetti with mussels, the spaghetti with clams, and a lemon cake. We each had an adult beverage as well. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Always the best whole grilled fish and carafes of local wine on the Amalfi Coast! The owner/chef takes care of his customers like family- you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous Praiano view while savoring his fantastic meals and hospitality all evening!

Not usually one to write a review but had to share this place. Amazing little restaurant in Praiano. Would recommend that everyone in the area comes in for a meal and a drink.

Absolutely the freshest and best seafood experience I’ve had, really glad our local host recommended this small family owned restaurant that brings local ingredients to your table. Our waitstaff was superb, attentive and friendly, and the offered limoncello and meloncello is just another level. Will be my first stop when I come back to Praiano in the future.

Most delicious place we have been to in all of The Amalfi coast!! This place is owned by the most incredible man and his family! Must try the seafood of any kind 🦞 ! Cannot wait to come back to this TERRIFIC place! Can’t beat the gorgeous view either ! In love! ❤🙌🏽

This restaurant is ran by a very kind and accommodating family. I instantly felt like family when we sat down and was treated as such. The food was delicious with a fantastic view of Marina Di Praia.

We stayed 5 days in a suite above their shop (but belonged to another hotel). The father and son run business was our favorite in the area- we got our daily waves and their specialty pasta that his mama used to make with walnuts and anchovies was one of my favorite pasta dishes of our trip. Great welcoming, chilled vibe and delicious food.

We stayed at Villa Michelina and ate here 3 out of 6 nights. The food, ambiance, and service were outstanding! We were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Maria was our server. She was friendly, accommodating, and made our dining experience enjoyable. The owner was very friendly and provided us with bread and meloncello which were his grandmother's recipes. Both were amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant as well as Villa Michelina.

Amazing food and service. We had our wedding in Praiano. It was just my wife and Me with the celebrant and photographer. We had our reception at Donna Clelia. They had a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us, and took care of the food selection for us. The only instructions we gave them was to make sure it was all local, and nut free (my wife is allergic). The food was amazing - particularly the octopus dish. You could tell it was straight out of the water. At the end of the meal we had a taste of the limoncello that Donna Clelia herself made. The owner and staff went above and beyond, and we really can’t wait to go back one day and experience it all again.

Best dinner we had on the entire Amalfi coast! Incredible food, we ate here twice and tried pretty much everything on the menu. The hospitality was second to none and we felt like family from the moment we sat down. The owner kept bringing out things for us to try and each was better than the last! Could not recommend this place more - you will not regret it!

We had a fabulous afternoon. We enjoyed some drinks with complimentary olives and snacks. We then decided to stay for dinner and everything was perfect. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and looked after us like family. We could not recommend this restaurant enough. A family owned restaurant and all the dishes we had were absolutely delicious. A relaxing vibe looking overlooking the beach between the cliff faces. We had an amazing experience. We even had a liquor shot with the owner. Perfecto!

Staff are great fun, cocktails and wine are decent and you know what; the food was good! Thanks for a good birthday eve meal, sorry we didn’t come and see you the next day 😉🙌🏻

Absolutely delicious and fresh flavours. The beautiful man Salvadore (Owner) was extremely accommodating and happy to help with vegan options. Family owned and operated. The best tasting tomatoes EVER. A hidden gem, with extreme authenticity ♥ The favourite restaurant on Amalfi 🇮🇹✨🥰

This was the best restaurant that my wife and I ate at during our trip to Praiano by far. The food and service were incredible and the ambiance being as close to the beach as possible could not be beat. They were also incredibly accommodating with allergies and went above and beyond to create something that would work for us, including offering to make us food that wasn't even on their menu. The owner was incredibly kind to us and overall this was just a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend to all.

One of our favorite meals in Italy. We had the linguine with clams and mussels, which was divine. The owner of the restaurant told us all about how the meal was a recipe of his mother’s. Such a nice time & food in a less crowded part of the Amalfi Coast.

We had such an amazing experience at Donna Clelia and would strongly recommend it to anyone. The food was by far the best food we had eaten during our week on the Amalfi Coast, but we loved the restaurant and had an amazing experience because of the staff as well.

My husband is allergic to shellfish and doesn’t eat seafood, so we always look at menus beforehand to make sure there is something he can eat, though as we sat down and ordered drinks we realized we hadn’t and that there weren’t options for him to eat (though we were mistaken). We spoke to the waiter and asked for the check and explained the situation, and he was so kind and did point out options in the menu that he could have. The owner overheard us and came to speak with us and not only offered to make us items that weren’t on the menu, but gave us food that he had made for himself and offered to make even more for us as well. We stayed and my husband took their recommendations, and we kept saying how happy we were we stayed because it was truly phenomenal food.

The drinks were amazing. We ordered the fried dough pizza as an appetizer, the spaghettone Donna Clelia for my husband, and the seafood’s paccheri for myself and then ended the meal with their limoncello and melon liqueurs and a dessert platter. From start to finish it was the best meal either of us had had in a very long time. During our meal we had been speaking with the waiter and the owner and the owner told us about his parents and the restaurant being named after his late mother, who is photographed on their business cards.

Overall outside of the excellent service this was still my favorite place on the Amalfi Coast and the people there just made it that much better. If you’re anywhere nearby, especially in Praiano, you should absolutely make your way to Donna Clelia. I know we will try to get there again someday!!
