Having visited the Colosseum several times, I took the opportunity on this trip to explore the nearby Arch of Constantine in greater detail, and what a rewarding decision that was! The Arch stands as a magnificent testament to architectural and historical grandeur, just a stone's throw away from the Colosseum itself.

The Arch of Constantine is a marvel of Roman triumphal architecture and is beautifully preserved, offering a glimpse into the past with its intricate reliefs and imposing structure. Walking around and capturing its beauty from different angles was a photographer’s delight. Each sculptural detail tells a story of battles and victories, a rich narrative etched in stone.

Standing beneath the colossal arch, I felt a profound sense of history enveloping me, reminding me of Rome's great legacy as the epicenter of an empire. The location also provides a fantastic vantage point for panoramic photos of the surrounding landmarks, including the bustling paths leading to the Colosseum.

For history enthusiasts and casual tourists alike, a visit to the Arch of Constantine is an essential complement to any Roman itinerary. It's not just a monument; it's a bridge to ancient glory, standing resilient and proud. Do take the time to visit—you'll leave with a deeper appreciation of Rome's architectural and historical depth.

The victory arch of Constantine is a lovely site to behold and is just as lovely as the one in Paris with their Arch of Triumph.

It is beautiful and stunning and it stands tall and wide. A wonderful site when visiting the Colloseum for the day and is surely a must do for any tourist or visitor of Rome.

Do buy your tickets in advance for the Colloseum and for the forum.

The Arch of Constantine the Great is a mighty structure full of ancient Roman history. Its architecture and sculptures delight, reminding us of the former power of the empire. It is an unforgettable place worth visiting.

One of the world's great triumphal arch structures, the Arch of Constantine was built in 315 AD to commemorate Emperor Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge 3 years earlier. It is 21 metres tall, 26 metres long and features statue topped columns, medallions and reliefs of battle scenes decorating all four sides. While the arch is gated off you can still enjoy it from up close as well as from a distance at various other locations .

It’s right next to the coliseum and a good place to stop and look at the arc. It’s gated off so best views are from a little away to avoid the gate or right under to view the details.

One must not just look at this arch but also read up about who Constantine was and why he was "the great".

Quite a cool arch to see and you can get many cool shots with Coloseum in the background.

Not nearly as busy as the main area and you wont be pestered by peddlers nearly as much on the southern side.

If you keep going south a bit you will find an entrance into Palatine hill and the Roman Forum which is probably less crowded than the main entrance out the front of the coloseum.

The youngest of the three surviving arches in Rome, and probably the most interesting one. Interesting because almost all of the sculptural details present on the arch were stolen from older arches and "pasted" onto this one. No tickets required. When you're done with the colosseum just walk on over and enjoy this wonderful monument.

Especially if you know the history behind this arch it really is a beautiful gesture and design. The closer you get the more details you notice in every single area. So well preserved and amazing that after so many years it still stands!

On the monument there are statues of Gallic, Phrygian, Cappadocian and Italian generals, the statue of Constantin the Great and descriptions of his works. Since the AD 313 Milan Edict freedom religion was allowed within the borders of the Roman Empire, additions were later made on it and it was placed in front of the Roma Colloseum as a monument of both apology and gratitude.

Having visited first Marble Arch or l'Arc du Triomphe which are modern recreations of ancient grandeur, I marveled at such an old and monumental arch. Tthis is the real thing (really old, not pretending to be old) and would be the undisputable focal point in most cities. Here it is just one more, the one that stands closest to the Coliseum.

Constantine's victory arch, I want Trumpets and fanfare 😆📯🎶 and row upon row of marching legionnaires and cavalry, elephants as they return from a victorious campaign. You can still feel the buzz just in front of the Colosseum as thousands still walk by to wonder at these ancient spectacles. Just beautiful ❤
