Osteria Mangia e Bevi

If you're looking for a charming and rustic Sicilian taverna in Palermo, then Osteria Mangia e Bevi is a good option. Located in a beautiful and old neighborhood, this restaurant offers a decent dining experience where you can crack your nuts and throw the shells on the floor!

The standout dish for me was the caponata, which was absolutely excellent. We also tried the pasta with eggplant and swordfish as well as the fish balls and famous sarde al beccafico, and all dishes were delicious and well prepared. The prices were very reasonable, unless of course, you want to splurge on a nice bottle of Sicilian wine like I did.

While it may be a bit touristy, I would still recommend a visit to Osteria Mangia e Bevi for the food and atmosphere alone. It's a wonderful taste of Sicilian tradition in a cozy and welcoming setting.

I liked it a lot; caponata really good. They have so many clients and you need a reservation (sometimes, same day reservation works too but it’s not a guarantee). Staff is friendly and they move around fast; everything is in a rush there. I would definitely go back.

We found this place by accident when walking around in the streets of Palermo and we were attracted by the lively crowd sitting outside.
Fast service, the waitress quickly got us a table inside.
Lovely decor, this place has a great atmosphere and is beautiful decorated, very cozy.

For a local unpretentious Italian dining experience this is the only place to come. The quality and taste of the food is awesome, the best meal we had on the whole trip.

We were a couple & had a starter, main & half litre of wine for around €30 by far the best value meal we had in the city.

When I visited this restaurant it was really crowded. Polite stuff, fast service, amazing decoration, reasonable prices.

We went there for dinner yesterday. I tried melanzane for starter and my partner tried octopus in tomato. Both were delish. I tried the local Sicilian delicacy, Pasta with Sardines, for main which is the reason we were recommended this place. It was well made, though not my kind of dish. The place gets busy fast so make sure you go early or make a reservation. It opens at 8pm for dinner and we called around 7pm to make a reso which worked. We did see a long lineup while leaving. The street is not noisy with very minimal traffic, so we sat outside. They also have fried pasta which could be ordered from 1 person to big groups. Will probably try that next time.

Great atmosphere. I had the pasta with tuna which was very salty but good. It's sort of a specialty in the area (as far as I could tell). Not high end dining but great after walking around all day.

Very good food. Difficult to find a table in 2019, before the covid. Nice atmosphere, nice waiters.

This place is just amazing. We tried the Fried pasta it was so good! The workers are so great and are really taking care of you, they pay attention and the service is so fast! The atmosphere is even greater, beautiful! They give you water, there is peanuts for you to try and even their own olive oil. Loved it. 100% recommended.

A truly hidden gems in palermo. Traditional granma food and dishes (and I'm Sicilian).

We had sarde alla beccafico, sword fish rolls and cod at sfincione.

If you are around during spring, try the artichoke. It is extremely delicious. I had fried pasta with eggplants and tomato as the main dish, loved it. Amazing tiramisu. The waiters don't speak English perfectly but they are friendly and they help you with the menu. Great place for dinner.
