Grotta della neve

Very interesting small cave which according to our guide was used to create and store ice. This was done by collecting snow from mount Etna in winter. This was shipped tremendous distances during the summer to destinations in the Mediterranean packed in ash for insulation.

Small little cave set formed thought vulcanic activity. Can be visited without any special great if you're really careful not to bump your head etc. Walking boots and helmet are advised thought. A flashlight is probably also useful.

Zeker stoppen als je naar de noord kant van de Etna rijdt. Er is parking naast de weg en de grot is maar 2 minuten wandelen. Via trappen kan je afdalen en door de grot wandelen om aan de andere kant er weer uit te gaan. Kan zeker zonder gids gedaan worden. Let wel op je hoofd en zet de lamp van je telefoon aan om iets te zien in de grot.

Eine sehr schöne Grotte. Früher diente sie zur Eisherstellung. Die Grotte wurde 1776 entdeckt. Sie liegt an der Hauptsraße und ist leicht zu erreichen. Der Ein und Ausstieg ist steil man sollte hier aufpassen. Die Höhle ist an heißen Tagen sehr erfrischend.

Grotta facilmente raggiungibile dalla strada asfaltata, si parcheggia l'auto nello spiazzo laterale alla strada e dopo pochissimi passi si giunge alla Grotta dei ladroni o, più correttamente, Grotta della neve, perché usata come neviera grazie alle basse temperature che vi sono all'interno.
Da fare: osservare i fori sommitali di areazione della grotta, in particolare quello che presenta il tronco di un albero che ha fatto le radici tra le pareti dello stesso foro per apprezzare la forza della Vita, cercare la data scolpita sulla roccia, ammirare il verde muschio che tappezza l'uscita della grotta.
Completata la visita ci si può incamminare verso altre grotte, edicole votive, colate laviche o boschi seguendo i numerosi sentieri panoramici che si dipartono da lì.

Posto incantevole, ottimo per fare una breve gita in famiglia. 2 Parcheggi gratuiti con discreta capienza. La grotta è ben segnalata e facilmente raggiungibile, 2 minuti di cammino. Mancano servizi igienici ma vista la breve strada non è un problema. L'ingresso della grotta è davvero magico. L'interno della grotta è affascinante e presenta tre pozzi che fanno entrare una luce meravigliosa. Assolutamente una tappa da visitare, magari organizzando un secondo itinerario in giornata. Enjoy!
