We enjoyed a lovely meal in this lovely restaurant. Our waitress was delightful and made sure to provide helpful recommendations - including the special of the day. The vitello tonnato appetizer was especially tasty! Buon appetito!

Here you can feel that the restaurant has been put through its heart and soul: from the kitchen to the ambience to the service. The dishes are well thought out, everything is homemade (including bread and pasta, for example). The service was also friendly and highly trained. Our requests for vegetarian variations of the dishes were kindly accommodated. It was a special evening for which we would like to thank you for one.

We totally loved it here, cosy restaurant with a view of the lake, delicious food en very friendly service.
The lady who served us spoke very well English en explained all the local specialties on the menu. She had a lot of knowledge about her products and you could see she was very proud of them.
We loved the slow cooked egg with the local mountain cheese, the risotto with ossobuco and the home made bread of long fermentation with the delicious olive oil from Sicily!

We enjoyed a lot, the service was great as well as the quality of the food.

We have been returning to Pallanza and Verbania region every few years since 2004 and only came across this hidden little gem about 6 years ago. We missed the 2 Covid years and then in 2023 the town had the Plaza all torn up and it wasn't accessible.

We returned this year to find the original owner had retired several years ago and a young couple Michele and Annalisa had taken over the restaurant. Michele is producing his 'magic' in the kitchen and Annalisa charming us with her delightful personality. We ate there twice, found the food selection delicious, service and ambiance to be even better than before. All their pasta's, the carne salada and hand made Fiocca Amaretti with fruit of the season desert was absolutely amazing. For a special evening at reasonable prices, we highly suggest this restaurant.

This dynamic duo is bound to be a long term success.

Had an excellent dinner at Il Portale during our holiday. Beautiful night with a view of the lake. Excellent wine, cocktails and food. Highlights include the risotto milanese and vitello tonato.

Ci siamo ritrovati molto bene, il locale lo avevamo già apprezzato a marzo all'interno (era una domenica brutta e piovosa) mentre ieri sera il tempo era splendido e siamo stati fuori per cena. Servizio attento e gentile, personale giovane , piatti curati e ben preparati! L'abbinamento con il vino ottimo 💯
