Troviamo il Torrente San Giovanni alla fine del lungolago di Intra dopo il Parco Cavallotti, dove le sue acque confluiscono nel Lago Maggiore. Anticamente denominato"l'altro fiume" deve il suo nome attuale all'Oratorio San Giovanni, ora distrutto, che sorgeva sulle sue rive. Il torrente ha origine alle pendici del Monte Zelda e percorre circa 60 chilometri prima di immettersi nelle acque del lago.
