Good Hope Retreat

What an amazing hidden gem we are so happy we found!! One of our favorite stays we’ve had in any country. Geneva and Sean are so welcoming and wonderful. Geneva is a wonderful cook!! The cottage is so peaceful there are not words to describe it. We enjoyed our quiet two days, reading and reconnecting with nature. The fireflies at night bring me back to when I was a child, running around trying to catch them in a glass jar. The air is so pure up on the mountain and everyone is so kind. If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of the beaches, please stay with Geneva!!! Such a wonderful experience!!

Sean and Geneva were great hosts. The cottage was cute and comfortable. Please be aware than you are staying way up the mountain and amongst nature. There will be lizards around along with small ants and such but nothing too out of the ordinary. The balcony view was amazing! Great place to stay off the grind enjoy some peace and quiet and be among the people.

Far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and everyday life at home, Geneva and Sean manage to create a great atmosphere in their retreat that takes me back to the ground of the facts. I already felt at home after one day and in this place I realized again what is really important to me and what life is really about. If you need a break, I would highly recommend this Jamaican mountain retreat, as you really feel like you're on holiday relaxing and not being stressed out by your new surroundings (as unfortunately is often the case on holiday). The hosts always try to make your stay as pleasant as possible and give you access to real Jamaican life. Far away from the superficial world of tourists. They really take good care of you and protect you from one or the other unpleasant experience. You are part of the whole, including children, dogs and friends of the family. All this is what makes this place so special and never makes me regret choosing the Good Hope Retreat. A stay you will never forget!

The property was Awesome! This was my first time ever in a Cabin in the mountains and It was a Great Experience for me. The Food was Delicious. Geneva and Sean are Dope and I Really Enjoyed my stay. I Definitely would Recommend Good Hope Retreat to others for a Nice Getaway Vacation!🤗

This was my first time staying in a cabin in the mountains but my experience was great.Definitely planning on going back to this place in the future. The host were great,very kind and friendly and make sure of their guests safety comes first. The place is very safe and secure.Nice view and very nice cool
weather up high in the mountains. No ac needed the entire week we spent at the beginning of October and seems to be cool year round at that altitude. Very relaxing place with hummingbird flying around and lush vegetation and tropical fruit that you can hand pick.Cabins are rustic and private. Perfect place to meditate or get away from everything.Had fun with the host kids. Missing them now as they are very jovial and well behaved. Good hope retreat is a must go on your bucket list. Loved the name as it was meaningful to us during our mission.

This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever spent my holiday. I spent 3 weeks in Geneva and Seans 2 floored stunning bungalow, amongst butterflies and hummingbirds. This place is def worth the ride up the mountain. Isolated from ppl and noice, sooo peaceful, green lush Nature with a Crazy view over the carribean sea. Geneva and her family are the nicest warmest ppl and they Help you with everything you need! My absolutely WARMEST recommendations!!! Cant wait to go back tbh!

AMAZING PLACE! PLEASE READ FULL REVIEW BELOW:

OVERALL IMPRESSION: We decided to stay in the artist cabin at the Good Hope Retreat to relax in the inspiring environment of the mountains and the stay was even better then we already expected. This place is not just a retreat. Its an experience, that really opened our hearts and made our time there super relaxing and leaving this place was kinda hard.
The beautiful view that you can see on the images is even more amazing in real life. Every morning we opened the veranda doors we could breathe the clean mountain air, relax in the hammock, do some yoga or just enjoy the view. Since the cabin is on an altitude it never got to hot in the daytime. My friend, a musician and myself, a filmmaker had an amazing cleansing time and the nature was a perfect environment to come down and collect new ideas and inspirations.
CABIN: You can feel, that the cabin was built with love by an inspired soul, that was taking care of all details. The woodwork makes the main part of the cabin super cosy and the cute little table area is very nicely merged in the shape of the cabin. It is the perfect place for a relaxed breakfast while the first sun rays of the day fall through the curtains and illuminate the table area. The bathroom area is accessed through the veranda, the shower is a round shaped wall of stones and the roof is open. It was my first time experiencing a shower without a roof and I loved it. Sun shining on me while the cool water refreshing is just an amazing experience. 2 Towels and one rug per person was provided, that bathroom and shower was equipped with shampoo and soap.
Cabin, veranda and bed were all clean and made when we arrived.
FOOD: The food is worth the stay itself. Geneva is preparing everything herself for the guests. It is made with love and my jamaican friend even rated the food as one of the best he ever tried, which means a lot! I have to mention, that the food is served to your cabin! What a wonderful service especially when just waking up, enjoying the first sun rays and then the wonderful freshly brewed coffee arrives at your cabin.
HOSTS: Sean and Geneva were perfect hosts, taking care of everything in detail. They are also really friendly and open hearted people, we had great conversations and they were super kind, providing us everything we needed for a perfect stay. They were even making some extra efforts beyond our expectations to make our time even more enjoyable. Also I like to mention one more time: Geneva is a blessed chef who prepares extraordinary tasty traditional jamaican meals.

AREA: The retreat is located on the Kentucky Mountain built within the beautiful nature of the mountain rain forest. The gardens surrounding the cabins are lovely taken care of, involve several beautiful blooming trees and plants that attract the doctor bird, Jamaica’s national bird. I saw it every morning from the veranda multiple times in just 2-3 meter distance. Several other species of birds where visible around our cabin throughout the day. The altitude of the cabin provides perfect temperatures, it never gets too hot. One of my favorite beaches, the Bluefields beach is right at the bottom of the hill. By car it takes around 10-15 minutes to reach it. The beautiful turquoise-blue water and an absolutely not crowded beach provides everything for a relaxing beach day. There are several other sights to visit nearby (YS Falls).
ECOLOGICAL FACTOR:
The Good Hope Retreat works ecologically friendly, using rainwater collectors, the food is made from fresh local products and the cabins are perfectly merged in the natural environment.
I highly recommend this retreat to everyone who is interested in experiencing Jamaica with all its beauties from nature, to their warm hearted people and the amazing food. I will definitely come back to the Good Hope Retreat and I already look forward to the next stay!

We needed a few days to get away and had never stayed "inna di hills". Good Hope Retreat was the perfect introduction, and Sean and Geneva made us feel like family from the moment we arrived.

We had business to take care of in nearby Belmont during the day, so driving up to the retreat was a nice end to the day with spectacular views of the sunset.

Our rental car would not make it all the way up the road to the cottage, so we chose to park and walk up or walk down a few times, but Sean was just a phone call away to help us tote luggage and keep out of the rain using his 4x4 as needed. It did get quite cool with the rain and elevation, so be sure to bring a light jacket and pants if 65 degrees is cool to you.

All in all, a very nice stay, and we hope to be back when we have more time to spend!”

A very romantic place with sea views. Wooden cabins full of details and high quality food with deliciously cooked Jamaican fresh produce.

Awesome rustic retreat. Try it if you like a woodsy experience with a great view! Hosts are very accommodating as well.

Absolut tolle Erfahrung! Wer Jamaika fernab des Tourismus erleben will, ist hier genau richtig. Urwald-Feeling Deluxe. Die Gastgeber sind unglaublich nett. Das offerierte Essen ist exzellent. Die Aussicht von dem Baumhäusern aus unfassbar! Ich empfehle einen warmen Schlafanzug mitzunehmen. Kann nachts bisschen frisch werden. Ein SUV ist ebenfalls empfehlenswert um die letzten Meter zur Lodge zu erklimmen. 5 Sterne!
