D'Angel's Seafood Restaurant and Bar

Always serving the best, freshest seafood on the north coast. It’s only about a 20 minute ride from downtown Ocho Rios. D’Angel’s is an open air restaurant with a separate, covered recreational area with a pool table. Lots of tables to set up and play cards or dominos while you wait for your meal. Nathalee, the head chef, will make sure you are comfortable and gives you that true at-home feeling. Kimone, the barmaid, serves the best rum punch I’ve had in Jamaica. I’ve visited this lovely restaurant several times over the last few years and each time it feels even more like Im just having dinner at a friend’s place. Sweet reggae music, nice breeze off the water & clean restrooms too! My favorite dish is the grilled lobster. Nathalee makes a garlic/butter sauce that needs to be sold by the gallon! So yummy. The steamed fish with okra & bammy, fry fish escoveitch style & seafood delight all get 5 stars from my family too. Get a taxi or drive yourself down from the touristy Ocho Rios. You’ll have an authentic Jamaican meal with some of the kindest people in the world.

Unfortunately Dors (across the road) was closed so we went here instead. Obviously there are 2 prices in operation across most of Jamaica but we were shocked to be charged $6000 JMD for 2 x escovitch fish & bammy in a takeaway container with a plastic fork. That's over $40USD!!! Lady owner was friendly but price for food was displayed as Large Food $700 and Small food $600. Of course a fried fish is going to be a bit more but $6000 is just totally ripping off tourists. Avoid!
