NIPPORI FABRIC TOWN

If you’re headed to Tokyo, and love fabric, you MUST MUST visit Nippori Fabric Town. Thank me later. It’s an entire stretch of fabric shops with fantastic selections. You will not be disappointed. The shop called Tomato was my favourite, they have a few branches there. They had a good range from high-end to discounted fabrics at 100 yen/metre.

Fabric galore ! Go crazy with the many types of fabric you’ll find where your wallet is your limit. You can always choose to ship your purchase home if your current luggage cannot handle the weight limit ! There’s one at NishiNippori train station😆 with roughly 90 shops on the street selling all kinds of haberdasheries, I’m sure you’ll be able to find something within your likes and budget.

There are soooo many fabric stores in this area with so many different types of fabrics. You want it they got it. We went into Tomato on this trip and my daughter found exactly what she was looking for.

It’s also a short walk from the train station.

Best shopping for my family who loves art and craft. So much fabric and materials to purchase especially at Toamato. Pls give yourself up to 3hrs at least to shop around if you are looking at purchasing to stock up. Fabrics can be as affordable as 1m for ¥100.

Good advice is to pull a small luggage along with you. Save the trouble of having to carry so many bags.

Had such a wonderful day moving down the street from shop to shop. The staff were all lovely. The selection and prices incredible. I wish I had longer as I hadn't realised some of the shops close at 5-5:30pm so I missed out of doubling back to grab a fabric. So much choice but it didn't feel overwhelming like some others stores and areas can. People who sew tend to be a quieter more organised crowd.

I visit this fabulous fabric town whenever I visit Tokyo! It is the best place to get bargained cloths and accessories, lots of good quality and made in Japan items can be found. The shops are friendly to tourists as well! Some shops accept credit cards and IC cards for payments now, yet still recommend to bring some cash for small shops~

This is a wonderful place for buying fabrics, yarns, leather and other small things for hand craft! The selection is wide and the patterns are very special. In terms of price it’s affordable - it goes from at low as 100 yen per meter to 1500 yen per meter of fabric.

As the place suggest, this is the road where the entire street is full of shops that deal with fabrics and handicraft.

This is for those in tailoring or fashion to come and get the required materials for whatever they wish to do.

My first time to visit Nippori fabric town! What an experience! The staff at each shop I visited was so friendly and helpful. Great that all the stores were located so close to eat other, which made it very easy to shop!

For a fashion designer, or anyone who sews, this street is heaven on earth! Gorgeous fabrics and very low prices. I’ve been twice and I just dream about it when I’m not there. You can get cashmere coatings for $20 a meter! I love Japanese fabrics and they have a great assortment at fabulous prices. This should not be missed by anyone who’s looking for sewing hardware or inexpensive leather and crafts supplies.

If you like sewing you have to go to Nippori!! I spent five hours going from shop to shop (didn't even sit down for lunch). So much stuff, reccomend the five store Tomato shop 🍅

Anything you need for your sewing project is available here. It is easily reached on the circular Yamanote JR line, and short walking distance from Nippori station. The biggest shop is Tomato, but the other shops are also worth a visit.

Most often, shops will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. Shops are also generally closed on Sundays.

Lots of choices in fabrics, leather & other sewing / dressmaking materials. Prices and designs varies on shops & franchises. Saw lots of foreigners came here, good sign that the location is worth visiting.

Nippori fabric town has a soft of slower, calmer vibe to it where people browse the stores for fabric and craft supplies or anything else that catches their fancy. If you love fabric, especially Japanese patterned and made fabrics, the place is perfect and you can spend hours shopping. However, decision fatigue is REAL in a place like this when the entire TOWN is dedicated to the business of fabric. You can get tired pretty easily and a trip here is not meant for anyone who doesn't like fabric or crafts. Still, it was a very fun and unique experience for me to go here and I found beautiful fabric to bring home.

The customer service was incredible and the quality of material, the best. Loved the experience and the team. A must do and go.

It's called Fabric Street, Nippori Textile Town. It's very near from Nippori Station. You can see varieties of fabrics and textiles in this street.

Interesting textile stores here and always able to find quality fabrics at reasonable prices, kimono fabrics are great. Excellent cafes at the entrance of the train station.

Huge selection of everything from sewing to quilting to knitting. Ladies do not take your husband with you but do take his money and credit card, I know from first hand experience.
Plan for an extra suitcase to take your many purchases home with you.

Had a great time mooching, some great bargains to be had but I had to consider baggage weight allowance 😁
