応永3年(1396)、宇都宮家第12代当主満綱が建立。元和6年（1620）に現在の場所に移された。
戊辰戦争の際には長州藩兵と大垣藩兵が立て籠もり、会津藩からの焼き討ちにあうがその後に再建された。
境内には蒲生君平の墓がある。

優しく穏やかな住職です。
怒鳴られた等の書込みをしている人がいましたが、何処か別のお寺さんと勘違いしているのではないでしょうか。
若しくは嫌がらせでしょうか...
住職と少しでも話した事がある人だったらそれがすぐにわかります。

檀家でもない私を快く受け入れてくださり、悩み、話を聞いていただけたり、写経、坐禅会にも参加させて下さいました。子供の頃、近所にあったお寺の住職の様で懐かしく感じました。
繊細で素敵な住職です。

しばらくぶりで姉の墓参りに行きました。墓全体綺麗に成っていてお寺さんで綺麗にしてくれて居たのが分かりました。とても気持ちが良かったです。

清住道路から山門を過ぎると
広い境内に春には桜がきれいに咲き、
２つめの山門をくぐると本堂がある、
本堂脇には山陵志、等での
蒲生君平の墓がある。
