I had great memories of this grade school as well as bad. Being half Japanese and half American growing up in Nagasaki Ken, Sasebo Japan, there were a lot of Japanese families that were still upset about the war and the bombing of Nagasaki. I had the same teacher for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade (I'm sure that was intentionally) and she was really mean to me and singled me out constantly in front of the other children. She did become nicer to me once my father threatened the principle that he was going to report them to the US embassy for their harassment and abuse, especially when my teacher made deals with the higher grade boys to get me after school, every day for months. Even with all of the bad times at that school, it was still a school where I had countless friends, a school where I first learned to swim, and it was all around good times(minus the politics). I'm sure if you are a Japanese, going to that school will be wonderful, but if you are half Japanese, not Japanese at all, then you might have issues going to that school, although it was 1985 when I went there, so things (hopefully) has changed since then. Good luck!
