Delicious vegetarian food hidden in the scenic mountains. The assorted vegetable tempura, the homemade pickled vegetables, the inari sushi and the salty umeboshi all took us to flavorful journeys. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Crispy and fresh tempura with fluffy rice and delicious miso soup with mushrooms was also very good.

This is a hidden gem in a UNESCO site. If you are looking for lunch or dinner, take the time to eat here. If you’re really hungry order one of the set menu. It’s 99% vegetarian except for 1 fish cake I. The soba noodles. And then I’m not even sure it has fish in it. As a meat lover I can definitively say that that I wouldn’t miss meat if all vegetarian food taste this good. The hot soba soup is flavorful and light, the noodles pleasant to eat. The temperature is crispy while the vegetables were fragrant. All the pickled and cooked vegetables were delicious as well as the fried tofu. I ordered extra sides. It realizing how much they give you so I ended up taking the rice onegiri with us. Overall, a very pleasant experience in a beautiful village on a beautiful day.

Great place for a delicious and inexpensive meal. They offer both western style seating and zashiki(in the rear of the building). The menu has Japanese and English text, but some items are only in Japanese. If you're unsure of what it is, the ability to read Japanese can help, but motioning toward the item is fine for ordering. After you finish your meal, be sure to check out all the おみやげ(souvenirs).

Great hot soba and local tofu as well as dessert! People are very friendly as well, and they sell local souvenirs.

Very delicious restaurant in Ainokura gassho village. You can eat delicious soba and many kinds of tempura here. Prices are good enough for that delicious taste.

The best tempura and soba noodles I've had in my life 🤤

Shop owners were very kind and friendly - it was winter and snowing heavily, they simply invited us in to get warmth from their heaters. We ended up eating there. The soup base for soba was so good, like nothing I've ever had. I was so full but I just had to finish every single thing. The shop carries a very good range of souvenirs. There's a common washroom, which was very clean.

Very good local vegetables. The vegetable tempura soba was very good - tastes of the vegetables were well retained. Good place to have lunch when you are in Ainokura.
