We went from Tokyo via train only for the hot spring experience and it was well worth it! Everyone is patient and helpful. They have both private and public options, which begin about 1pm daily. No reservation necessary unless you want private bath. Spa on site does massages only. No body scrubs. Beautiful gardens to relax and meditate as well. Enjoy!

One of our friends who previously stayed here, recommended this Ryokan for us. We are happy we stayed here. We reached early for our check in and they held our luggage for us. The welcome and check out was fantastic. The staff pay a lot of attention to every thing you need. Very pleasant and welcoming.

We went to the main street and had lunch. Since the weather was good and we had gotten the Hakone Free Pass we did a lot of the rides to be back at the hotel by 5. Next was to try the onsen. This is a public bath within the hotel where you can go from your room wearing a Yukata robe and a hotel by towel. Men and women have separate bathing areas. You remove all your clothes in your by section, place them into lockers and then proceed in your birthday suit to the bathing area. First use the showers and soap and then enter the hot springs to sit and relax and enjoy the soothing warmth. There are two areas one covered and one under the sky. This was a beautiful experience that one should try.

Dinner was at a set time that you can request. It's an elaborate Japanese meal. Be prepared to try new things and tastes. I wish we got some explanation of the dishes and the right way to eat them. The menu was in Japanese and Google Lens helped a bit. You can order beer, wine or other cocktails that are charged extra. 3/4 of our party enjoyed this experience. 1/4 just watched us access nibbled a bit. This experience is not for non-foodies or vegetarians.
While we were having dinner our beds were made on the floor with rice stuffed pillows. A very different experience but definitely worth it. Rooms have a hot water machine, coffee, sugar and creamer and other good amenities. They have a nice red bean sweet that was welcome in the room. In the lobby is a lounge with soft drinks and coffee where you can sit and watch the garden. You can order beer in your room with room service but we didn't try it.

Breakfast was again an elaborate meal, this time one of the young men explained a bit about the proper combinations of dishes and sauces which we appreciated.

There's a nice garden as this Ryokan is in a National forest and it was wonderful to walk and see the beautiful flowers and the koi pond.

I have to mention that it felt nice to be able to use any part of the hotel including the restaurants wearing your Yukata robe. A very convenient and practical way to show style and elegance.

This hotel/Ryokan was a once in a lifetime experience and totally worth the high rates they charge. I would recommend this Ryokan for your next trip to Tokyo/Hakone. Go for the room with dinner and breakfast unless you are a picky eater or vegetarian.

When we booked the accommodation, we expected an old building with cigy rooms but actually this Ryokan is a huge building complex which still manages to radiate all the atmosphere you'd expect. Highlights are the beautifully lit japanese garden (including tea house), a modern lobby with engawa that invites the gardens nature into the room and one of the best inside onsens i had the pleasure to take a bath in (even though the Rotenburo, outside bath was also great).
Combined with reasonable prices, i highly recommend this place for weekend trips as couple, or friends.

Booked this for my first ever trip to Japan and didn't know what to expect, but was blown away. Service is top notch, outdoor onsen under the moonlight is incredible and food is 10/10 (which is a bit pricey, definitely worth it so try it if you can) I will most certainly come back next time I'm in Hakone

My partner was looking for a place to have a drink after our dinner and I was in the mood for dessert so this was a perfect choice. We were not staying at the hotel so it was lovely that they are accepting walk-in guests without reservation. The staff were absolutely lovely and attentive and the yuzu cheesecake was delicious, not too sweet and light.

This is the most expencive accomidation ive stayed in in my life as a family.
The experiance was amazing, the older japanese gentleman (ex manager) actually made our experiance that much more enjoyable (the younger japanese duty mamager was arrogant), such a nice man and spoke good English.
The set menu for western kids can be challenging particularly if thier not seafood fans.
The dinning is however truly amazing, the food is amazingly and plenty of it. The restaurant staff were very helpfull.
The baths and the gardens are truely lovely , at the time of our stay tree felling was taking place in the gardens that did not effect our comfort.
The location is a 6 minute walk slightly uphill from the station, walk up the back street and try dinning at the traditionally made noodle bar. The food was amazing and cheep there.

Beautiful renovated rooms, and an amazing garden. If you paid for the meal, it is a traditional Japanese meal in old traditional. I would highly recommend.

This ryokan is well located, a short walk from the station. The room was clean, spacious overlooking the beautiful garden, and the traditional beds were comfortable. Onsen is available indoor and connects to the beautiful !! outdoor onsen. This was a great stay and we cant wait to come back! Thank you Yoshiike.

This hotel is the best part of my one week trip. Convenient for Hakone location tourism. Close to train and bus stations. Spacious rooms and great outdoor hot springs. Very attentive service by the staff. Dinning was booked out when we stayed but various food options nearby. Highly recommended!

View from the room 406

One of the best places to stay while in Hakone. Located few mins away from Hakone-Yumoto Station.

Staffs are accommodating .

Made my quick stay in Hakone so relaxing and peaceful

There is an onsen and also private bath which is good for those who are shy/ uncomfortable to go to Onsen.

The garden and mountain view is my fav part of this ryokan.

Will be back.

Highly recommended

The Japanese garden is absolutely stunning and a work of art. I spent 45 min walking through the paths. The outdoor onsens were out of this world beautiful and amazing. I felt complete bliss

Our stay was exceptional. The onsen was like a dream location. So warm and unbelievably beautiful

The only thing that is important to note is that you must make a reservation for breakfast and dinner before arriving because they were fully booked when we arrived for check in which was a real disappointment

Amazing hotel. The garden is a definite highlight it's absolutely beautiful. The traditional Japanese food is a great experience too. The baths were great once you get over your shyness the public ones are amazing and everyone treats you with respect. The rooms provide casual kimono to wear inside the hotel which are great. Beds were comfortable, pillows a little hard but all part of the experience. They provide umbrellas during the rain and it's a close walk to the station and food places.

Day onsen pass, 2000jpy plus 350 towel. Amazingindoor/outdoor, separate men/women, 7 mins from station, the place to go if doing day trip. Spent 45mins onsen, 15 garden. Sounds weird to say but my favorite garden in all I went to in japan. Felt amazing after, water not too hot. Friendly fast service. Free barley tea.

We went here for our anniversary in April 2019 and absolutely loved it. We will definitely make it a point to stay here again in the future. We have to many tattoos to cover so we booked a room with a private onsen attached and it was absolutely heavenly (I'd recommend it even if you don't have tattoos!). We also had a private little walkway that lead to the garden which was absolutely gorgeous and so fun to explore, they even sell food inside for the fish in the garden! We paid extra for the meal plan which provides dinner and breakfast (only dinner is pictured), definitely worth trying for the experience if you're ok with a lot of fish. The food was great but I personally wouldn't do that again to save money. The staff were very courteous and we had no complaints. There is also a shuttle that stops by that has a minimal cost and will take you to the train station.

What an amazing experience ! It was a first time for me and my friend in a real japaneese ryokan, and it was even better than expected. The onsen were so relaxing, and very clean. Mister A.Ikeda, the manager, even said a few words in french, he was lovely. As a person who work in catering, I recommand hardly this adress.

Amazing Location … walking distance to the train station, restaurants, souvenirs and conbinis. The manager, Ikeda-san was very attentive to guests and very friendly. Customer service here is top notch. We tried the teppanyaki twice and although pricey, is worth trying once. The wagyu and teppanyaki shrimp was delicious! The onsen and ofuro has quality water tapped from Hakone volcano and soothes aching muscles and makes skin soft. For those shy of using the public bath, a private onsen is also available to rent for 45 minutes. The zen garden, is definity the star of this hotel. Beautiful koi ponds inside and outside the building will have you relaxing in the scenery in no time. It also changes with the season and must be amazing during sakura season. Will visit here again as me and my while family really enjoyed it here.

We enjoyed our stay but wished we had booked a second night. Spectacular view of the gardens from our room. The room was spacious and in good maintenance. The rate included dinner and breakfast. Both meals were well prepared and included many dishes that my Japanophile wife enjoyed. We enjoyed the outdoor onsens which were clean and tidy. Very peaceful and relaxing. The grounds were spectacular with many well planned stone and water features. We wandered the grounds for more than an hour and enjoyed every minute.

This hotel is considered walking distance from the train station/romantic car station. The hotel has a old school ryokan with Japanese style rooms. During breakfast and dinner, there will be staff who will lay/keep futons.

We booked the place with breakfast and dinner and were served with 7-8 course meal everyday. The food was quite nice.

There are also hot springs. There are 2 rooms for hot spring available on a first come first serve basis. If the private room are not available, there are still open area spring. (Do bring towels from your room, there are no towel at the spring)
