We felt like royalty from the moment we stepped off the private shuttle from the train station. The hotel has been updated recently. It is such a beautiful property and the rooms are very well appointed. Staff is delightful. The best picture we got from our whole Japan trip was at dinner when we were all dressed in the Yukatas.

The only recommendation I have is more snacks in the lobby store. Or snacks during the afternoon hours in the lounge. We were traveling with kids and they were hungry after the long train ride from Tokyo.

I want to thank the hotel staff for an amazing service! Special thanks to Manisha - you welcomed us and made our stay the best!! You helped me a lot with the whole issue of food (I'm very problematic with food) and went above and beyond!
The hotel is luxurious and comfortable. What I liked most about the hotel was the onsen experience, the spacious rooms and the courteous service. Totally recommend.

For starters the staff here are amazing !! I was traveling with my 1 year old and they were very sweet and playful with her! The views were breathtaking and the meals were outstanding . I wish we had stayed longer ! The private baths were a great experience. The lobby service is also top notch. Worth every dime for the experience.

Get a car and drive around hakone area, this property is well suited next to highway. Facility itself is top notch. Food was amazing we had matasusaka wagyu beef and grill abalone for dinner, easily compete with any Michelin restaurant in London. Private Onsen is amazing and unlimited booze included ! I mean what a treat!

Just amazing, the views, baths and food. The staff there were all friendly and hospitable. Would recommend checking in early so you are able to book a private bath. There are a lot of complementary items that weren’t mentioned like snacks, drinks and more. So it was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend!

Amazing. This is definitely one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. The rooms were amazing with tons of free snacks. They have private onsens you can book + on the way to the onsens there are snacks. The food there was fantastic. The service was also exceptional. Just one example among others, we weren't able to eat meat for one course and they were so accommodating and worked out another main to go along with dinner.

Fantastic stay. Food was excellent, hearty and innovative, both breakfast and dinner. Room was spacious, clean, and well designed. Service was friendly too!

I do wish the bedsheets and pillows were of higher quality though. But apart from that, we had a great time and will definitely return.

Far and away the most luxe hotel with the best service that I've ever experienced. My husband and I were there for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely the highlight of our time in Japan.

Service: From the moment we arrived to when we sadly had to leave, the staff showed a level of service that I've yet to see elsewhere. When we got there, after they took our luggage, a staff member sat us down, offered us a drink, and then explained everything we'd need to know during our stay. After that, she took us took the room and gave us a little tour, making sure we knew everything we needed to know. This was exemplary of everyone we spoke to at Hatsuhana, from our wonderful servers at breakfast and dinner who explained everything in detail and had incredibly attentive care, to the front desk, who helped me with something by calling our next hotel after I had sent our luggage to arrive earlier than intended. Staying here was like getting a "rock star treatment."

Facilities: Everything in the hotel from the lobby to the room to the hallways and baths was incredibly beautiful and luxurious. The views were stunning, everything was modern, clean, and well taken care of. The room itself was stunning; we actually didn't end up going into Hakone proper for our full day there because we wanted to spend a whole day relaxing in our room (and loved it). The room was incredibly comfortable and updated, and it not only came with all the necessities (shampoo, etc.), but also had robes, snacks, juice, and more. We only used the private onsen, but it was so easy to make a reservation (it was part of our room booking process), and it was an incredibly relaxing experience. The lobby also had some free drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) if you wanted to spend some time outside of the room. Finally, we made use of the spa, and the couple's massage was so great that my husband actually fell asleep in the middle.

Food: At first I wasn't sure what we'd do for lunch, as only breakfast and dinner were included, but I didn't need to worry. The portions for both meals were HUGE, and it was some of the best food we've ever had. I'm a picky eater, but everything we had was fantastic, and beautifully presented.

Location: All the views from the hotel were incredibly gorgeous. It was an easy taxi from Hakone Yumoto station, and then they have a free shuttle to take you back to the station after check-out. There isn't much immediately available outside the hotel - the Open Air Museum, etc. is a half hour drive - but as previously mentioned, we didn't feel the need to leave the hotel for our 2-night stay.

We'll absolutely go back in the future; this place is special and is worth a splurge. Thank you, Hatsuhana!

Had the most exquisite stay at ryokan Hatsuhana in Hakone! The onsen quality was unmatched – truly a therapeutic retreat. The variety of public onsen pools available ensured a unique experience with each soak. Coupled with the ryokan's impeccable service, every moment felt tailor-made for relaxation and luxury. A must-visit for anyone seeking the finest onsen experience in Japan!

Our recent stay at the hotel was pretty great. They recently remodeled the hotel so everything is brand new and super clean. Our room with a private onsen was pretty awesome and specious enough to accommodate five people in one room. The hospitality is something I liked and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing onsen experience in Hakone.

We had a great time here with the atmosphere, food, hot spring/onsen. Services provided by the staff were phenomenal. You can also book a private bath which you won’t regret it. It was so quiet and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Very lovely hotel with superb service and great restaurant on-site. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. My son and I enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The staff spoke English nicely and was kind about my limited Japanese. I appreciated each staff member from car service to wait staff to desk service. Thank you so much for my good experience.

Staff are very nice and helpful. Dinning is a bit disappointing, lobster is not fresh and a bit over cooked.

Location was accessible via 10-min Tozan bus ride. Room was very well-furnished with yukatas, toiletries and spacious. Service is excellent. The older staff in the restaurant spoke very good English. Good spread of kaiseki dinner and breakfast.
