Oak Hostel Nara is located conveniently near a number of restaurants and convenience stores. The rooms and facilities were really good. The beds were comfortable, and a personal locker is provided just outside the dormitory bed room. There were plenty of shower and toilet facilities, as well as several vanities to brush teeth, fix your hair, etc. The staff were also wonderful and very accommodating. Overall, my experience at Oak Hostel Nara was great.

The best, cleanest, and most centrally located hostel I have ever stayed. Everything is spotlessly clean, really just 2 min walk from train station in a pedestrian street. Super friendly staff, quiet and comfortable sleep even in a 16 bed dormitory due to the educated clientele, and capsule style beds which give you some privacy and lightproof enough for a comfortable sleep. Beds are also super comfortable

The place was impeccably clean. The staff were engaging and friendly. The location was within walking distance of some of Nara's top tourist spots. Free coffee and tea and use of microwaves were an added bonus! This place is highly recommended. Close to lots of shopping malls and restaurants.

Room was small but very clean and comfortable, perfect for what we needed. Service at front desk was consistently friendly and helpful, and with could talk in English pretty much fluently. Homemade bread (buns and pastries) available for 100 yen at breakfast, and free tea and coffee, as well as free WiFi in rooms and lobby. Location is fantastic - a 3 minute walk from Kintetsu Nara station and a 5 minute walk from the famous deer park. Nara JR station is a bit further at 15 minutes walk, but the journey is very easy. Fantastic hotel, would stay here again.

Very happy with our choice to stay here. Room is a good size. Well laid out. There is a lounge in the main floor where you can hang out. But mostly it's the staff. When I booked the room, I mentioned that I had dietary restrictions. When we arrived, they had made a list of restaurants that could accommodate me. So incredibly thoughtful!!

Very nice hostel. Stuff is speaking in English. Rooms are clean and tidy. There is free tea and coffee at breakfest time. Localization is the greatest asset of this place. It just 10 minute walk to JR train station and 5 minutes to Nara park. I can really recommend this place!

5 stars is simply not enough. I stayed with them last July, it's been 6 months, but I still cannot forget the experience with them. The lobby is great, the breakfast is great, the staff are awesome. Loved this place so much and I can't wait to stay with them again!

This hostel had very simple and basic rooms but they were very clean and comfortable. The staff all spoke at least some English and were exceptionally helpful. The lobby has hot water for tea/coffee, toaster ovens and a microwave. They also sell variety of pastry/breads in the morning and beer in the evening that you can enjoy at the tables in the Lobby. It's in a great location, close to Nara-koen, train stations and shopping. Also, if you're staying here and need a break from the usual noodles/rice/fish routine of Japanese food, head over to the most excellent Sakura burger which is just a few doors down.

Very nice stay at this centric hotel, close to Nara Park. The staff was nice and helpful. The common area is cosy and confortable to socialize with fellow travelers. Rooms were pretty good and you can have breakfast and drinks at reasonable prices. Also, the bike rental is quite cheap, so go for it if you want to explore the city and not only feed the deers.

We stayed here a couple nights while in Nara. It was more of a hotel for us since we had a private room with our own bathroom (I definitely preferred this). The room was clean with friendly staff that could speak English well. If we ever visit Nara again, we’re staying here.

Loved it . The room was a tad warmer than others but not a problem during winter, juzt open the windows. The staff spoke good English and it was easy to communicate. They also put in the effort to decorate our room for our Honeymoon !!! #nextlevel

Very clean room at a convenient location. Close to Kintetsu station as well as Nara Park and Todaiji Temple. Staff speaks good english and they're very accomodating. Free coffee and tea in the lobby and they offer luggage storage in a designated locked room. They have dorm rooms on the first floor or you can book a private room. Highly recommend the place.

New hostel with amazingly friendly stuff. It's comfortable and well furnished. Moreover it's really cheap (11€). One of the best hostels I've been.

We stayed at Oak Hostel Nara the night before the Wakakusa Yamayaki festival. Probably my favorite place we've stayed on our three week trip. First, the hostel amenities are great. Large clean bathrooms, large showers, towels and other items for rent/sale at the front desk, even Asahi beer! The front lobby itself is great. Spacious with lots of seating. Second, the staff is amazing. They speak English really well and have all kinds of recommendations and advice for visiting Nara. They seemed to think we wouldn't enjoy Nara compared to Tokyo or other large cities, but that didn't stop them from trying to make our two days there enjoyable. I even met one of the front desk receptionists at a conbini later that night and she was super friendly, even outside of work. Third, Oak Hostel is in a prime location in Nara. It's a quick 10 minute walk to Nara Park, 3 minutes to major shopping and restaurant areas and literally just down the street from the Kintetsu-Nara Station, which is definitely the best way to get into Nara. Finally, like I said, we were there the night BEFORE the big festival. So the day of it they were fully booked but they still let us leave our bags there to store them and use the hostel lobby as our "home base" throughout the day and evening until we left. We never felt unwelcome, even though we felt like other hotels might have seen it as overstaying our welcome. Overall, I really enjoyed Oak Hostel in Nara and would absolutely recommend it to anyone else.

Great location - less than 200m from Kintersu-Nara Station and 300m from Nara Dear Park. Very clean and cozy.

Plenty of restaurants across the main street.

There's also a local bath house just 50m away, Y420 per entry.
