Absolutely outstanding stay, I wish we had booked another night to fully enjoy all the facilities. The staff were very attentive and friendly with excellent English.

Our rooms featured a truly incredible private onsen and garden. Every possible amenity you could think of was also provided.

Despite having such an outstanding private onsen we gave the public baths a try and they were also of such an incredibly high standard. There are also communal massage chairs which after spending a week in Tokyo was a godsend. I must admit I almost fell asleep in them.

The evening meal was also exquisite with fresh produce and amazing service. Some I must admit was not to my taste but with so many courses I was not left feeling hungry.

Our stay at the Gora Kadan was a luxurious, quintessentially Japanese experience that was the highlight of our trip. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the service is second to none.

Our room assistant Yuma was so kind and professional, he took extremely good care of us throughout our stay. Always smiling and trying his best to tend to our needs.The dining experience was out of this world, everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. We had a multi course kaiseki on the first night and charcoal grilled wagyu steak on the second night. Exquisite!

We frequented the onsen throughout our stay as it was such a relaxing and healing experience. We also went to the pool area for a refreshing swim. We created lasting memories at Gora Kadan, I am thrilled that I chose to celebrate my birthday at Gora Kadan this year! Definitely recommended!

We had an amazing two night stay during our honeymoon. We rented a room with private onsen with naturally hot water with a view of the garden - we used it 5+ times during the stay. It was incredibly relaxing experience. You are served meals in your room, by incredibly friendly hostess, it’s perfectly quiet, you are hanging out in hotel-provided yukatas all the time (I barely used any clothes I took on the trip with me). We hiked in the area and it was beautiful (you can see Fuji from mearby places). Traditional japanese dinner was great and we also had omakase at their new sushi restaurant which was really good.

Amazing experience! Gorgeous room with beautiful views. Excellent food and outstanding service. I let them know ahead of time that I wanted a vegetarian meal and they happily accommodate me. I can’t think of a single negative thing to say about this place. I highly recommend it if you really need a place to disconnect and relax.

This place was beautiful and the service was excellent. Both the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast was amazing. I had an amazing time there with the private bath as well. I wish had more time to spend there. Thanks to the staff and our room attendant (unfortunately did not manage to catch her name :( ) for providing the us with the great stay.

You can't beat their stellar service. From checking in till leaving, you're pampered with TLC. Food is amazing. We enjoyed our in-room spa so much and the shower is also a steam room. We'll definitely go back again.

Wow, what an incredible stay. The high level of service from the kind and welcoming staff was unbeatable. The breakfast and dinners were five-star restaurant quality. A private onsen and daily kimonos were so luxurious. Definitely stay here if you’re looking for a top tier Ryokan in Hakone area. We were truly sad to leave!

Staying here was a wonderful experience, not just a beautiful room in elegant surroundings, the whole experience from check-in to check out was incredible. The in room meals were special, and the baths were so relaxing. We wish we could have stayed longer.

2nd time visiting this Onsen (hot spring hotel), as I visited before COVID, 110% exceeds my expectation. I will rank this Onsen hotel top 3 in more than 50 Onsen I had ever visited in Japan... So, if your budget is not a problem and plan to visit Hakona area, you should plan to stay at least once in this hotel.

Besides, their in-room dinning (dinner and breakfast) included in the accommodation fee is well above my quality expectation.

This has been a wonderful experience from start to finish. My wife and I stayed for two nights and were welcomed with enthusiastic warmth and generosity. The traditional Japanese dinners using seasonal ingredients, the breakfasts were generous and exquisite. In every detail we saw so much refinement and thought. Our suite was an enclave of zen with such a beautiful nature setting. This place leaves one feeling rejuvenated, inspired and grateful. I highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic stay at Gora Kadan for our honeymoon, on Christmas Day.

We were most impressed with the service. Our room attendant, Yoshiko-san, took care of us with utmost care like our own parent. We had a minor issue with our room initially, which the hotel manager and staff paid close attention to resolve as soon as possible and ensured our experience remained pleasant. We are grateful to have experienced the best service.

Food-wise, we had the Kaiseki and Shabu Shabu for our dinners. Amazing quality of food, combined with impressive display. I was excited to have tasted the Juuyondai sake here as well.

We also tried the Shiatsu massage. Whilst it is not as strong as the Thai and Chinese massage, we felt Shiatsu tackled our “knots” with pinpoint accuracy and strength, making it an overall soothing experience. Would recommend as well.

Needless to say, the hotel architecture and vibes were a 10/10.

We will definitely be back for autumn next time.

We had the most lovely stay - the staff were all so kind and welcoming and the Bettei Suite "Akatsuki" was just WOW. The kaiseki meals were incredible and felt so authentic. Wish we had stayed longer but we will be back!

Great service. 5 minutes walk from Gora train station. Gora station is the centre of most tourist spot like Sulfur volcano, pirate ship and open air museum. They provided service even after we checked out. Can’t recommend any ryokan than Gora Kadan. Arigato Gora Kadan. The Best!!!

Room: it is a very large room with an outdoor onsen tub.
Food: omakase dinner and breakfast (choice of Japanese / Western) were included in my package. I managed to try a bit both and both were excellent! If you havd to choose one, the Japanese one is stellar.

Wonderful stay. Incredible architecture, attentive staff, beautiful surroundings. Our room at ground level had its own private garden, a plunge pool fed by water from hot springs, excellent room amenities. Best of all is the kaseiki and breakfast meals served in your room. Our tour guide was recommended by the hotel and Shin was fantastic. Highly recommend this hotel.
