Cafe Matilda

Thick jiggly pancakes have been the rage in Japan for the past decade or so, but to be honest I find that they taste very plain on their own and often crave more traditional pancakes.

I happened to be in Kawagoe and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the bacon and egg set for breakfast and it far exceeded expectations. The egg was perfectly fried, and while the bacon wasn't crispy (hard to find anywhere selling crispy bacon in Japan), it was very tasty. However, the main star was the pancakes, which were soft and fluffy with a hint of crispiness on the edges. Pretty sure they used buttermilk too, but might be wrong. They were so good that I almost wished I had just ordered them plain. I do think they would be even better if just a tad thicker, but it is still the best pancake I've had in Japan!

The set I ordered was 770 yen (tax included) and includes a drink (coffee, tea, juice) and some fruit.

The local has a lot of personality and the environment is unique! It's a place you can enjoy going with friends or alone.
The American style breakfast is delicious and it's served with a smile from the waitress ^^. I am really happy about the coffee size as it's also American style size and that is difficult to find in Japan (also tasty). The meals and drinks are not expensive at all. I think this place is already my favourite bar-cafe-restaurant!
I recommend the salmon salad set for breakfast!

I live around Kawagoe and I just discovered this awesome place with delicious food , great atmosphere and amazing 60/70/80s American geek cartoon superheroes decoration ! Came there for pancakes, they were delicious ! I’ll bring my friends there for sure !

The cafe was quite packed when we stopped by during a Sunday for lunch, but we managed to get seats fairly quickly. Menu prices were reasonable, and the food and atmosphere were great! If you're looking for good pancakes and that retro American pop culture experience, I definitely recommend grabbing a bite here.

A pretty place with fluffy and tasty pancakes, with an elaborate and intricate interior decor - walls and shelves adorned with lots and lots of animation characters, old movies posters. We visited for lunch but it would be a great place in evening with its good collection of whiskey and beer. Worth a visit for sure!

It's not easy to find a real breakfast out here. Did it fit exactly what I'd want back in America? No. But it was close, and delicious, and the place had a great vibe. Highly recommended if you are missing that breakfast diner.

Amazing ice cream, best onion rings, delicious pancakes! Personally, I didn’t like the fried chicken (because it was karaage style and not American fried chicken) but if you like Japanese style fried chicken you will like it. Other than that, everything else was so delicious! Incredibly similar to the American flavors and textures I love! I miss my country’s food so this was a super nice place to fill that craving. Will definitely be back soon.

Cafe Matilda is probably one of my favorite places to go in Kawagoe. If you're looking for a good breakfast place in town, then you have to go.

Pancakes are delicious and well priced. The service is really good and the decor is amazing. Stop waiting and go!

お友達に紹介されてランチで家族4人で行ってみました。
土日13:00頃だったので混んでるかなと思ったけど並ばずに入れました。
子どもはキッズパンケーキとジュース、カレーとメロンソーダを頼みました。
メロンソーダにはバニラアイスとホイップクリームが乗ってて、それがどっちも美味！
濃厚で美味しいバニラアイスと、純生クリームみたいな生クリームでした。
カレーはトマトカレーって感じで、カレールゥを使ってない、カレー粉やトマトから煮込んで作る作るカレーの味でした。
辛くないです。美味しかった！

ポテトめっちゃ美味しいです。
娘が気に入ってほぼみんなの分全て食べました。
ランチパンケーキは旦那がチキンのパンケーキで、私が海老アボカドのパンケーキを頼みました。
チキンが美味しすぎて単品でチーズトッピングで追加オーダーしました。
大きめでお得感あります。
海老アボガドも美味しかったけど次は私もチキン頼む！と思いました。

卓上に来るシロップとメロンソーダのバニラアイスや生クリームを拝借して甘く食べたり、チキンでしょっぱく食べたり。。
また食べたーい！と思う味でした。

店内はアメリカンな感じでトイレまで可愛い。
フィギアとか沢山あり待ってる時間も楽しめそう。
きっとまた行きます。

コロナ開け初来訪で、モーニングへお邪魔しました。
モーニングのL.Oは9:30。
久しぶりでメニューも少し変わっていまして、土日祝限定スペシャルモーニングとカフェオレを注文。お食事系パンケーキのセットです。
いつ来ても落ち着くこだわりの店内。良いお店って雰囲気が一番大切かなと。どんなスタイルのお店でも、特に作り手の方の思い入れが深いお店がそうかなって思います☺
パンケーキは薄めのホームメイドスタイルで、もしかしたら甘いバージョンのは味が違うかもですが、お食事タイプのほうはパンケーキ自体の甘さは殆ど無いです。ふわっとした生地に目玉焼きのとろーりの黄身を付けて食べるのと言い、付け合わせのハッシュドポテトと言い、とっても美味しいです。
フルーツでお口直しできるところも💮。カフェオレはコーヒーがかなりアメリカンでしたが、ミルクたっぷりで美味しいです☺。
ドリンクメニューで可愛いのが沢山あったので、次回のお楽しみになりました。テイクアウトの食事系パンケーキにはポテトも付きますのでそちらもオススメです♪

ずっと気になっていたお店に来れました！
モーニングに伺ったのですが、ボリューム満点でパンケーキがおかずと甘いのと選べるし

お酒のメニューも沢山あり、クリームソーダも五種類くらいあって今度絶対頼もうと思ってます！

川越にあるパンケーキで有名な【カフェマチルダ】訪問しました。
店の外からでもアメリカンな雰囲気があります。
13:00くらいに訪問しましたがすでに二組並んでおりましたが、20分ほどで入店できました。
店の中もアメリカンでした。
雑貨、ポスターが所狭しとたくさんありかっこよいです。
メニューは、デザートパンケーキと食事パンケーキがあり、初めて食事パンケーキを注文しました。
自分の感想としては、食事パンケーキは今までのパンケーキ全く違い、お好み焼きを食べている気分でした。
店内は、女の人か学生が多いです。
それも価格帯が安いというのもあるかと思います。
車で行くと駐車場を探さないとなりません。
ここから時の鐘までは少し距離はあるので覚悟しておいてください。

モーニングで利用させてもらいました。
古き良きアメリカの雰囲気が好きな人には、メッチャおすすめします。

モーニングセットでベーコンエッグパンケーキを頼みました。
キレイに盛り付けられていて、味もバッチリです。

注意点としては、モーニングのラストオーダーは９時３０分となっていて、１０時には、一旦お店が閉まるようなので、そのままゆっくりしたい方には向いていないですね。

川越に遊びに来た時は、またお邪魔したいお店です。

店内はカウンターとテーブルがあり、こじんまりとした店だがアメリカンな感じを前面に出したお店でした。

友人がパンケーキが食べたいということで、足を運ぶ流れとなったのですが、初めてランチでパンケーキを食べとても美味しかったです。
生地は甘くなく付け合せの食材との相性もよくかなり軽く食べられました。ただ、見た目以上にお腹は脹れます。また、ランチメニューの種類も多かったです。数量は少ないですが特製ベーコンのパンケーキや特製ソーセージのパンケーキなどもありどれも魅力的でした。また別のメニュー食べに足を運んでみたいですね。

最後に、路上で待ち時間が発生しましたが、待機中に水を頂いたのもかなり嬉しかったです。ありがとうございました！
