When you cannot decide, why not order BOTH! The older bird is cut so that customers can bite through the meat. The younger one is served uncut. Both are seasoned to perfection with strong hints of pepper.

The cabbage helps clean the palate and removes the greasiness.

The seasoned soya bean is excellent. I had it after eating BOTH chicken drumsticks.

We order both type of chicken. But I more prefer Hinadori instead of Honetsuki Dori.
Hinadori is tender and juicy and eat to bite off. While Honetsuki Dori is abit hard to peel off. Is very firm and chewy.

The famous Marugame honetsukidori. In all honesty, I liked this better than udon, the other famous dish of Kagawa prefecture. The chicken leg is cooked in a savory garlic sauce that is best scooped up with musubi afterwards. You can enjoy good drinks as well, including Calpis sour.

When early, no queue but restaurant is packed. Has large signboard high on its rooftop. And there’s a Pokémon go stop.

Amazing chicken! Had Hina-dori and rice ball. The seasoning was perfect and the chicken was tender and juicy. Their service was great. It gets crowded soon at dinner time.

Extremely popular restaurant and deservedly so.

I highly recommend this place for honetsuki dori, the fantastic chicken leg but with one major caveat: always order the young chicken (Hinadori).

Their Hinadori is juicy, flavorful and full of umami. An absolute delight.

It was so good i went back a few days later to try the other chicken, the adult chicken or Oyadori. It was terrible- the adult chicken isn’t just firm- its horribly tough to chew and felt like my jaws were getting a workout. It was nowhere in the same league as the Hinadori and baffles me that it costs more than Hinadori

I visited the restaurant again for the third time, of course i got the Hinadori and it was divine. Highly recommended- but only the Hinadori. If i were rating the Oyadori, it will only earn 1 star.

The chicken was great, with a lot of salt which is apparently the way they do things in Shikoku. The portion size was a bit small, so I recommend getting a side. The large beer size on the other hand is a comically large stein!

Inside decor was surprisingly nice.

I decided to go for Oya-dori, the adult chicken. Try if you want something new (and if you have enough teeth to cut out the meat and chew 😂😂😂) no kidding, I loved the hard texture of the meat. I regret that I didn't order any onigiri to balance the saltiness.

The chicken on a bone was amazing, it was a tad little salty. But the ordering the onigiri and torimeshi with it! Highly recommend eating here if you’re in Marugame.

Only one defeat was the long long queue. But worth waiting.

A shop that produced the famous "Honetsukidori" along with Sanuki udon in Kagawa prefecture. Good access from Marugame station. Bake chicken thighs in a homemade sauce. There are two types of Honetsukidori menus, "chicks" and "parents". "Hina" makes the thighs of young chickens soft and juicy. The "parent" is enough to spicy and chew the grown parent bird. Wrap a napkin around the handle and grab it with your hand. Beer is indispensable together. Finally, you can be happy if you eat "Onigiri" with the sauce of Honetsukidori.
