A lovely little oasis hidden away from the busy tourist street.
The building is beautiful and owner is really lovely and friendly.
We had the vegan karaage with cacao salt, and the berry&chocolate cake which were both absolutely delicious. Even my non-vegan dad loved it.

I am from the United States, however, the owner of the cafe provided smoothies and chocolates during a Kyoto Yoga Teacher Training Retreat that I attended a few months ago. Each day we had a completely different flavor of a beautifully delicious smoothie that was made from fruits or vegetables! Her creativity and passion for good tasting, healthy food is obvious when you talk to her about her food and the quality ingredients she uses! While I did not visit her cafe, I intend to next time I am in Japan. I would highly recommend visiting her to try her chocolates as well! Her chocolates have the cutest shapes and are made with nutritious ingredients.

A cozy place to enjoy various organic chocolates. This place is muslim friendly because the chocolates are free from alcohol. And there is a possibility that you can use some space to pray, since the owner is also very kind. We tried matcha chocolate and some tea here. It was good taste.

This is such a hidden gem in Hikone’s old Samurai Village. raw smoothies, chocolate and cakes (all vegan) are served as well as several flavours of tea in a very traditional japanese house. the owner is super lovely and welcoming. she is even providing helpful tips for traveling around Hikone and Lake Biwa. if you’re in the area please go by and say hi. you won’t regret it!! :)

Super relaxing cafe with cute interior. We tried the raw cake dessert and hot chocolate. Both were super yummy. I went with my 2 year old daughter and the owner Rie was super welcoming and accommodating.

Wonderful little cafe in an old Samurai residence with a nice Japanese garden. The cake and the sweets taste amazing and are served on beautiful plates. Loved the whole atmosphere, it is very cozy and relaxing. The host is very friendly and has some interesting stories to share. A great place!!!

Oh my god, the hot cocoa drink is really good. The type of drink you sip slowly, trust me it is so rich and creamy you won’t want to drink it too fast. You may need to order certain items ahead of time or give yourself some extra time if it’s busy. Would definitely come back again!

A delicious vegan experience in a lovely traditional house. The food was great and the location is truly special. The owner was lovely. If you are a chocolate lover this is the place for you.

This was such a treat! I had an açai breakfast bowl that was topped with granola, edible flowers and a fresh slice of fig. It also came with an amazingly decorated peacock chocolate and kombucha. The food was delicious and the owner was eager to share some information about the ingredients and their benefits. She also told me about some local events and sightseeing locations. I will definitely be back!

Great ambience in a cozy little Japanese-styled house. I felt like a forest elf when I tasted the food. Also, they have amazing chocolate, made with lots of love.

Rie's Cafe is absolutely cozy and I felt comfortable immediatley. You have a nice view on the green garden while you are listening to very relaxing music. But of course, the best are the vegan food and drinks. Everything tastes totally natural and and is just good! It will make you feel happy :-)

Lovely English-speaking owner, wonderful environment in an 180-year samurai era house, all vegan chocolate drink and raw chocolates with elaborate beautiful hand-made designs. Definitely must-go in Hikone!

Delicious raw chocolate! Beautiful space in a historical building that a samurai used to live in. Rie, the owner is incredible kind and shared her exquisite matcha chocolate with dark roast green tea next to her meticulously groomed Japanese garden.

Cozy little Café with great cakes and sweets. It is located in a very old house which had become an official part of Hikone's cultural heritage. The owner is very welcoming and she can help you with a lot of awesome recommendations. If you visit Hikone, make sure to stop by and drink some spicy hot chocolate! It's a really unique experience!
