Hongsi Hanjeongsik

Visited in order to try local speciality bulgogi that were very good, but banchan selection, cozy decor, ambience and Staff were factors that made this visit unforgettable. Largest and most interesting selection of banchan appetisers including some original like shark, snails. My favorites: spicy snails, freshwater grilled fish, sweet walnuts, cold pork.

I'm not the best judge of Korean food but this place was amazing. The atmosphere alone is worth it. The service is super quick and friendly. I read some of the worst reviews and they complained about the number of side dishes. I'm not sure how many they got or how many they expected but those reviews seem really unfair bc we definitely got way more than we could possible eat. I'm American so I can't speak to how good of a deal it is bc by American standards this was a steal.

Holy smokes. This place should be in the Michelin guide. For 20,000 won, you can get a smattering sample of 26 different plates. The atmosphere is extremely traditional and the food is excellent. An absolute must visit in Gyeongju!

What a feast! 7 appetisers, 17 main courses and 2 desserts (medicinal herbal tea and ripe persimmon). Every dish had its’ unique flavour, beautifully placed and full of flavour. The dinning room was beautiful and relaxing. The staffs were attentive and the food came out at a great pace. All of the appetisers and mains were delicious. My husband and I also enjoyed the medicinal herbal tea. Total cost were W40,000 for two people.

This meal was truly fantastic, I wish it would be granted a Michelin star one day. The servers had the kindest souls and were so genuine and helpful, the space’s design is beautiful and clean and homey with lovely potted plants all over, the low seating really helps with the traditional meal setting, the guest and ambience is also very respectful and family-oriented, and of course the platings were delicious. My partner and I got the traditional meal set and it was just fantastic. We were perfectly filled but not overly stuffed, we were given so many lovely and unique banchan as well as classics. It was absolutely satisfying heart warming foods, it really filled us with warmth and love through the precision of the meals they procured. It is hard to choose which dish was the best, for me it was the sea snail vegetable dish, but there was also a great palate cleanser vegetable dish and many spicy and non-spicy banchan as well. Can’t wait to come back.

Best meal we've had in South Korea so far. A beautiful traditional meal with so many new and unique flavours for us to try.

The owners were friendly, polite and generous. Totally worth it, would highly recommend.

You can see from the pictures all the amazing dishes, we were absolutely spoilt! And make sure you come hungry otherwise you may not be able to finish all the food!

It wasn't crowded at all so perfect for social distancing in times of Covid.

The bulgogi set meal was divine, every dish was sumptuous. I especially liked the caramelised walnuts with perilla leaf, the grilled mackerel, bulgogi and the soft tofu salad.

The desert is cold persimmon and a most fragrant Korean herb tea - loved it.

The owner came by to offer his hospitality and additional dishes - I will definitely visit again.

The best dinner set we had up until now after one week in South Korea! Sublime and honest. Very friendly owner and staff with love for the restaurant and the food, nice atmosphere. Excellent!

Absolutely loved this place, next time I go to South Korea I will visit again. Amazing prices for a lot of great food.

So many exciting dishes, The traditional menu was so good!

Found this place through tripadvisor, ranked number 1, came here around 830pm. Got a set menu of bulgogi for 16000 won per person (min 2 people). It was something different from what I have previously tried in all my years of eating side dishes (banchan). I also ordered a beer and a special rice wine. Wife and I could not finish everything. I had a great time and the environment is traditional (plan to sit on floor).

A lovely host, great hospitality, too much delicious food. Reasonably priced- actually cheap for all the dishes. Highly recommend if you’re solo or with friends or family

Tradition Korean foods. Old house with old decorations. Such a good experience in ancient town Gyeongju. My favorite in this set are: mushroom porridge, cold pumpkin salad.

The best traditional Korean food. The taste are awsome and good quality. The owner very friendy and helpful. He speak enlish very well and present every dish on our manu.

Had the bulgogi set menu, it was AMAZINGG! Best meal I've had in Korea so far, and I've been to some Michelin places here. For 17000 you get so much food and such variety, it's definitely an amazing value, would definitely recommend 1000%. We didn't finish the entire course, it was a lot of food, so come hungry.

The server is super friendly, his wife is the chef and I think it's just them and maybe their kids running the restaurant. Awesome service, awesome value, awesome delicious TRADITIONAL food.

Seems very typical. Welcoming for tourists (without being touristy, makes you feel like a “normal” customer); service in basic English. Good food, nice way to try out different Korean dishes.

You get to try many interesting banchan dishes for an incredible price here. Plus the owner is incredibly nice. The persimmon at the end is the perfect sweet treat
