Luck Grove Spice Garden

Interesting to see a lot of people complaining about the prices in the shop afterwards - did you forget that the plantation tour and massage was free? I felt the tour was exceptional and deserved an entrance fee of at least £10. Our guide Bonny gave us great enthusiasm and made the experience highly enjoyable and we were more than than happy to give him a tip and also to the masseuse (we gave the masseuse 1000lkr which equates to about £2.50 so not a big deal and was the amount suggested by our local guide). Based on the reviews I think some have forgotten where they are. We bought various bits in the shop after as we were happy to support this element of Sri Lankan tourism and felt the experience justified a purchase (given no entry fee)!

We had a great experience at Luckgrove spice garden, our tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Regarding some of the other reviews, he did show us some of the products on our skin as some of the other reviews have said, but he asked our permission before doing so, and we also weren’t offered the massage that some people have complained of, so I’m sure they have read these reviews and done what they can to improve! We were taken to the ‘pharmacy’ which is their gift shop and yes they obviously wanted to sell us something, but two things on this:
- obviously they want you to buy something, they earn very little and are just trying to make a living, so I’m sure why that’s such a bad thing
- you can say no.

We were also taken there by our tour guide, I got no impression that it was because he got a cut for it, but because he was trying to support Sri Lankan business. So all in all, I would recommend :)

"Free" but expect to tip the guide, the toilet attendant and the unexpected masseus that appears and works on your legs.

The experience was great, we were given an English speaking guide who took us through the many fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices in the garden, and how to use them. Cocoa, cinnamon, lemongrass, sandalwood, Vanilla beans, pineapple and much more. Very interesting.

This was so interesting. We learned so much here and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We even had a free massage thrown in.

Very interesting tour of the garden with examples of the finished spices and herbs next to the plants that grow them all the while enjoying a complimentary tea. We were guided through each of the natural products they sell, which can become tedious, but had a free back rub thrown in and at no point did we feel pressured to actually purchase anything. So overall great experience.

Brilliant guide, very knowledgeable and the shop just have everything what you need. I felt it is pricey a bit but cannot really compare as I haven't been any other similar shop. The garden absolutely beautiful.

Very friendly staff, with a free tour. They're not pushy at all for a purchase at the end but you will probably want to buy something given how friendly they are.

An excellent spice garden to visit. Extremely knowledgable staff who are more than happy to seek to you about any aspect of the garden. They also have a shop selling many of their spices.
