Aqua Dunhinda

We were looking for a nice place to stay just outside Kandy and wow what a gem this place turned out to be. The villa had spacious common areas and the rooms were equally so. The view of the Mahaweli river was breathtaking and unusual as it flows through a series of rapids at that location.
The service from Asanka and team was excellent and prompt and the food was absolutely delicious. I am running out of superlatives for this place. The only challenge was the access road to the villa which was narrow but just a minor inconvenience. The accommodation has recently expanded beyond the self contained villa with the addition of some individual cabanas and a main building with a restaurant. We will definitely return.

The villa is nestled in a breathtaking nature view, surrounded by lush greenery and serene surroundings. The last kilometer of the road to the villa can be a bit challenging. However, the staff made it convenient by providing a 4x4 for that part of the journey.
The service was good, staff were attentive, friendly, and ensured our comfort and satisfaction. I would like to extend a special thanks to Lakshan for preparing us a great BBQ. The food was delicious.
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in the midst of nature, I highly recommend Aqua Dunhinda Villa.

Our office team members spent a great weekend here. The location is full of nature right next to mahaveli river. The chef, manager and the team did an excellent service. The pool is well maintained. The main villa can accommodate 9 people. They have five chalets which can accommodate two people per each. The main villa is well equipped and spacious, the chalets are a bit small but have the best views. I would suggest you to book a room in the main villa.

The only downside is the road to the villa is ruined by an ongoing project. Mini SUVs (Honda Vezel) and SUVs can make it but not a car with less ground clearance. We had to park one of our cars (Toyota Vitz) in a friend’s place.

The manager provides transport from his SUV from the main road to villa as the road isn’t good.

Such a beautiful property. We stayed here for 2024 Vesak holidays. It was a very peaceful location filled with greens and sounds of nature. The team was very supportive to all our needs. Considerably close to Ambuluwawa Tower and Pine Tree Adventures. The road to the property was a bit muddy but would definitely recommend Aqua Dunhinda!

Best house to spend the night while I was in Kandy. The house is located in a very quiet area while you can hear the sound of the river when you open the door. Staff have been nothing but excellent and beyond helpful to our needs. Will definitely give it a return.

I spent two beautiful days in this luxury home. The service, view, food, accommodations and people were great! I can only recommend this place if you want the best possible quality.

Aqua dunhinda is an amazing, beautiful place to stay. The villa itself is a nice place all rooms are air-conditioned and bathrooms are very spacious.Their pool is such a great place to relax. With all these facilities it fitted in with our budget.

more over the villa staff were an absolute highlight.
Specially Rukshan was a fantastic and gracious chef and such a lovely guy. The food was so good , we ate way too much.

Not just him all of the staff members always went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were so good with the kids.

Overall it was such a pleasant experience we had at aqua dunhinda and would highly recommend without hesitation.

Very few tourists around in this area and you are well off the beaten track. Takes a 4x4 to get to the villa from the main road. Loved every minute

Amazing experience. I went with bunch of my friends (9). And the villa can accommodate 9 people.

The surrounds were impeccable and simply Beautiful and Breathtaking taking Panoramic Views of the Kothmale tropical forest, overlooking bank of Mahaweli river flows.

The Staff were friendly and very supportive. I wanted Thank Mr.Sanjeewa who helped throughout our stay. amazing accommodating and very spacious villa . The food also delicious!

The villa provide transportation from their vehicle park to the villa because the road was not so good. But you can come to the villa parking without any issue.

Absolutely stunning view with Mahaweli River running down the premise. Nice spacious rooms with good bathrooms. Decent size pool good for 5-6 eople at a time. Clean and everything but a big shout out should be given to the staff who are extremely friendly and provides excellent service. We had a group of 9 gave them groceries to provide us food and they did a superb job with very tasty food and service.. 5 stars for sure..

Aqua dunhinda is located along the banks of mighty Mahaweli River and overlooking the kotmale forest reservation (500 arches of tropical forest). The mighty Mahaweli River is Sri Lanka’s longest river which passes through the land over a large rock canapé that provides a breath taking view. The unique location has inspired a number of legends among the villagers dating back to the Kandy Kingdom/dynasty. The location of the villa is called “Dunhida” due to the fact it creates mist as the river flows through during the rainy season.

The property is located 1.5 Km from the City of Gampola and 1km interior from the Gampolo/Narwalapithya highway. Day excursions including UNESCO world heritage site- the scared City of Kandy (15 KM), the Tea capital of the world – Nuwera Eliya (50KM), Pinnawella Elephant Sanctuary (30KM) are short distances away. The villa is location is 90KM from the Katunayaka international Airport.

Our stay at Aqua Dunhinda was Awesome. The surrounds were impeccable and simply Beautiful and Breathtaking taking Panaromic Views of the Kothmale tropical forest, overlooking bank of Mahaweli river flows. If we come back to Ethgala with more friends we would not consider staying anywhere other than here. Absolutely perfect! The pool was such a great place to relax and so Good for Yoga and Meditation in the indulging with nature. IT'S A real Hideout !!

Fantastic place to stay while in the Kandy area with spectacular views from the terrace. Rooms are large and airy and the staff are lovely and genuinely happy to help.
