I discovered the Benson Shoes shop while walking down Avenue Mohamed V, and detouring to a side street. When I saw this beautiful shop, I had to go inside.

Benson Shoes is, without a doubt, the best shop anywhere in Tangier for hand-made leather shoes for men. The shop displays and sells classic men's shoes that look expensive, and indeed, the prices begin at about 1,800 Dirhams.

Although I do own some very expensive hand-made Italian shoes bought on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, I do plan to return to this Benson Shoes shop in Tangier to buy some new shoes at sometime in the not-to-distant future.

While looking around the elegant shop, I spoke to the woman sales clerk about the shoes, and because I planned to write a review I wanted to make a photograph of the inside of the shop.

I was offended, however, when the woman told me "No Photos Allowed". I did, however, snap one photo of the exterior of the shop so people who look at Google Maps will at least know what the store looks like from its exterior.

After that unexpected remark, I walked out of the shop and told the the sales clerk sitting at her desk that I would return later. (I doubt she was the owner of the shop as she was young. There was no sign indicating that taking photographs was not permitted.)

Benson Shoes is clearly a upscale place, so if you are looking for the best quality men’s shoes that are completely hand-made, Benson Shoes is the only place to get them in Tangier.
