Doña Evelia Huevos Motuleños

My wife and I visited this place so as to taste the famous Huevos Motuleños on our latest trip through Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

After our landing at Merida Airport, my wife and I were quite starving, so, we decided to commute to Motul to have some Huevos Motuleños as breakfast, it was a 45 minutes drive from the airport.

We parked our car just aside the Carrillo Puerto Park which is some few steps from the November 20 Municipal Market, where Doña Evelia’s Venue is located.

The place is settled at the upper level and almost a half of the floor is owned by Doña Evelia’s place, it has enough room to sit very huge groups, surely you will always find a table.

The service is fair, not too slow, not as fast, just be patient.

The crew is very friendly and attentive, if you request flavoured water, your glass is refillable.

The main dish, huevos Motuleños are impresive, tasty and deliciosos, what we liked the most is the habanero chilli taste, its flavour is unique and adds a spicy touch to your meal. The course is served along with beans and fried banana slices.

If ypu are not used to eat spicy food, be careful, this dish adds habanero as a main ingredient and tends to be quite hot.

The definitive spot to try yucatán's most famous breakfast food "huevos motulenos". The service is really good and the taste is super fresh... The tomato says what really makes the difference. A must visit spot in Motul!

Good place for huevos motuleños. I had been told this was the original location where they were invented by a cook, and then named by Felipe Carillo Puerto, then governor of Yucatan state back in 1921

Best huevos motuleños in México. A common dish in restaurant menus all around the country. Serving cafe de olla, cakes and fresh flavoured water.

Great place! This is a must if you are in Yucatán. The huevos motuleños were delicious. The owner, doña Evelia, is a great host too. Loved it.

They only serve huevos motulenos. It is fabulous, the best huevos motulenos in Motul!!! Very friendly and fast service. Entrance is on the side of the red market building and go to the second floor. Seating is outdoor cafe style under an open air roof. Casual atmosphere. Open only til 2pm. Worth the trip to Motul. 80 mxn for three eggs. Cash only.

The best place for Huevos Motuleños !!! Don’t confuse it with the other restaurant in the same place. It is located inside the Market on the upper floor.

One of my favorite breakfast restaurants. No waiting and no menu. It’s huevos Motulenos. You want one egg or two?

You can go a lifetime without trying a more delicious egg breakfast and the service is awesome. $90 pesos for eggs and beverage.

You have to try their Huevos Motuleños. It's a classical breakfast of the region and was invented in that city. It's eggs with tortillas and salsa. There a jalapeno be careful... The atmosphere is great with muscians walking and playing among the tables.

Excelent good, waiting for your turn a little too much, but it was worth the.

There is only one thing and that's Huevos Motuleno and they do a great job at it. The place was packed 10am on Thursday many visitors from Merida and different parts of the State, Country and foreigners visiting Yucatan were present. The food comes in 2 versions 2 or 3 eggs everything else is the same. Eggs are fried to your liking and serve on a tortilla with black beans, I would say it might even be a tostada and another tortilla on top like a sandwich which you can't really see because of the delicious tomato, ham, sweet peas and probably other ingredients, place on top making every bite very tasty. In addition you get some hot bread to accompany the dish which can be used to dip in the sauce that is generously place on the eggs. Bread was also good. You get with this a drink not much to choose, 3 options that day horchata, hibiscus (jamaica) or coke regular or diet. We also went for the cake desserts they had as another business hangs around offering their products we stuck to Dona Evelia for consistency. We had a cake with queso de bola, banana cake and nata cake (not sure what that is probably milk). All 3 were pretty good and were large pieces so we took some home. You can probably share each one with another person. The place is packed and a bit noisy because of the packed tables but very friendly and fast service. Price very reasonable 4 people was 415 pesos plus I gave server a tip that amount is your option. Definitely would go back it's about 1 hour drive from Merida most of it is getting to the main road otherwise it would be 30 to 40 mins. Enjoy these traditional eggs that originated in this town.

What can I say? This might be the best huevos motuleños in the world well, there are a few other places just next to this with almost equal food and i can't really say which one i prefer the most. I go to this beautiful little market as often as I can and the only negative is that we can't get a beer with the delicious food. Would this have been in Mexico city the experience WOD have been greatly elevated by micheladas.
