Macaws Bar & Bistro

Fun little place. We ended up there on Trivia Night. We even signed up and played. All the Americans and Canadians come here on this special night. Wish I would have known about it while we were here, it would have been fun to go a few times. A Canadian lady by the name of Margaret ran trivia and her helper was Tim. They were great!
The staff here were really nice, spoke good English, and the menus are in English.
The food and atmosphere were great. I love the front street it is located on, nice area to walk around, all light up and pretty.

Definitely a hangout for expats. If you're an American or Canadian looking to catch hockey or an NFL game and a burger, this is your spot. There onion rings are hand-battered, the best I've had ANYWHERE. The bartender makes a mean Long Island too.

For dessert, I cannot recommend enough the Mexican Mudslide. A boozy milkshake that makes the perfect nightcap.

One star off on food because plant-based options are almost non-existent and the sole veggie burger is generally dry and lifeless.

Fantastic food and drinks. The Lava burger was great. Staff was great. Very friendly place to go and meet new people. No issues at all when bringing in my two small dogs. 👍

We found a cute cafe near the beach. There is a cute companion welcoming us at the cafe. His name is Bally. When I saw him at a seat I thought he was a stray cat. lol… I had the rancheros eggs which was very good. It was not overly spicy or seasoned. We enjoyed the ambience and it’s located in a quite neighborhood. Only a few mins to walk to beach. The server was very friendly who introduced Bally to us. The cafe itself was clean and stylish. Highly recommend.

Update: still a good spot for an early morning coffee and tennis match. Nice servers and bartenders who remember your preferences. Regulars you can say hello to every time you come. Trivia night is filled with friendly folks!

We walked around a bit and looked at other brunch locations but chose this one because of the bar seating. Great vibe and music when missing a bit of America. Not saying it’s American, but the 80s-2000s were playing on tv and the bartender spoke a lot of English as well as Spanish.

The bartender was nice and knowledgeable. It’s unfortunate there weren’t more people there that morning, but you can tell it was a great place to have a drink and relax.

Looked like a full bar. I ordered a vodka ginger ale and it was a great starter…liked that there was the standard bacon, eggs, and potatoes option, but went for the pepper filled with eggs, bacon, and cheese.
Hated the cheese on top, it tasted like melted cream cheese so I scraped it off, but loved the eggs and the REAL bacon. It came with a side of fruit and beans. Portion was good and it was plated nicely.
My lunch partner ordered a shrimp omelette and enjoyed it with tortillas.

Would definitely make it a regular stop :)

Fun, laid-back little place with good food and tasty coctails. The staff spoke better english than I can speak spanish.

The drinks for yummy and quick. Everyone at the table ordered tacos of one kind or another. We ordered chips in salsa. If I have any kind of complaint there were not a of chips <20

Overall a great meal, I'm sure to go back and I think you should go too.

The best tortilla & chicken soup in downtown Mazatlan.

Fantastic drinks. We got a margarita and a paloma and they were some of the best we've had. Nice people and good prices.

Love this place for breakfast, but every one should go there for dinner it’s always lively full of expats, also love their live music and their Fried chicken 🍗

We've visited Mazatlán several times, but our last visit brought us to Macaws for the first time. I think I finally found the perfect margarita, and it is here. The service is great, and we love their live music. Macaws has been added to our favorite places to stop in Mazatlán. We will definitely be back.

We have been here twice so far and everything we have had has been such a pleasant experience. Stopped by Saturday night and they were having fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. We have had so much authentic Mexican food and seafood this was a welcome departure. The fried chicken was perfectly done better than I have had in the Deep South. The hosts are also such gracious people they obviously love what they do. BTW when you stop in don’t forget to ask for a trip in the wine/liquor cellar. Not to be missed.

This is our hide away quiet beautiful bar and grill. We love it here and we love the owner Riena.

Great food, lots of music, awesome staff.

We've eaten here on several occasions in November of 2016 and 2017, and we've been extremely satisfied every time. The menu is not huge but has plenty of variety, and everything we've eaten has been excellent. I particularly like the burgers. The atmosphere is casual and neighborly. During the winter months it's a bit of a hangout for English-speaking expats and snowbirds, so you can get great advice about what to see and do in Mazatlan from your fellow diners and drinkers. The location is excellent, a block from the beach and adjacent to a pretty park and art museum. Enthusiastically recommended!

Wimbledon! I am here in the Old Town, and have been looking to see some tennis anywhere (during the Wimb tournament). Finally found it here on a GREAT TV. Victor, the bartender, was super accommodating with searching for it and letting me watch. Oh, food is good (nothing crazy different), at a reasonable price. Bar is nice to meet some retired expats at as well if that is what you are going for. Go Fritz/Kyrgios!

This place not from from the ocean in the Centro zone of Mazatlán is said to be popular among Canadians, and I'm told it's not hard to site one here either inside or out at a table on the sidewalk.

I visited here only a few times, mainly to drink beer on the patio. The WiFi here is very good. Ask the bartender for the secret code. I also came here once for morning coffee, which costs here about the same as an evening beer.

This is a great spot, whether for food or drinks. If Victor makes the Long Island Iced Tea, you may want to never leave. Consistently good, which most places here are not. Recommended.

My wife and I went there today. Located a few blocks from the beach. Great friendly atmosphere. The owner even stopped by to converse. Best shrimp mariscos I ever had! I highly recommend this place.

Good burger. A change up from tacos. Service was great and the weather was perfect. A great lunch.
