Dany's Groceries and Variety Store

This is my corner store. I'm disabled, but I can almost always get there. The people are nice. DANY'S stayed open all through Covid:19-22 when many stores here closed down.

The stock is usually pretty good. She often has fresh onions, tomatoes and potatoes. There is a cold case with meat and cheese. She stocks a lot of dairy products.

There is a ton of junk food. Chips and cookies and cakes. I wish she sold more fresh fruit and vegetables. There are fruits and vegetables in cans.

You could pretty much live out of this store and some of her clientele does exactly that. BUT it's pricey, compared to a supermarket. There isn't a proper meat counter, either. There is a good selection of dry foods.

My pet peeve about the place is there is NO FREEZER! So there is no ice or ice cream or frozen food. A Tijuana bodega without helados and paletas is CRAZY! I complain about it all the time.

DANY'S doesn't sell cigarettes, either. It's super annoying! She doesn't even sell loosies out of a pack. She could certainly do that as a courtesy. No soap.There is no beer for sale here. It's different licensing. I get that, but just about ALL stores in Tijuana can sell you a drink and a cigarette or two.

Dany's sells school supplies for the school across the street. There are a lot of housewares type items. There is soap and various cleaners. If you don't see what you need, ask. They only speak Spanish, though.

Business is CASH ONLY in pesos. If she knows you, you can owe her until next time. She is the one who decides about that.

Another thing they don't do delivery or help you get stuff home. That's a real problem if you are buying drinking water for your family. Bring a cartito!

I've stopped going there cuz it a small place and nobody wears a mask and crowd's of people in the store not enough room for social distancing I doubt they disinfect the place.
