KCC as it is commonly known, was a private school before the Rivers State Government took it from its founder, Chief, Prof G Barango Tariah.

The school was one of the three earliest schools in Buguma. It has trained notable personalities including one time Governor of Kogi State, in Nigeria.

The school was famous for training students in commercial subjects such as Typewriting, Shorthand, According, Book Keeping, etc. Then, being proficient in these subjects earns employment after school. So, the school was so famous in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Even today, it is still popular.

The school is mixed, boys and girls. Students wear white top and navy blue down.
