Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is a tertiary learning institution in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria.

The National Board for Technical Education has approved it as a state-owned polytechnic. It is also accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

The polytechnic was established by edict in 1979 with the name The Polytechnic, Owo by the outgoing Military Governor Sunday Tuoyo. Executive Governor Adekunle Ajasin began to operate the polytechnic immediately he took office in early 1980. It was renamed Ondo State Polytechnic in 1990. By 2010 the polytechnic had over 4,000 students.

In June 2003 the polytechnic was renamed after Chief Rufus Folusho Giwa, a prominent businessman from Ondo who had become president of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). Students protested the change of name and the school was shut down, only reopening on 29 September 2003.

The polytechnic has several department in the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Technology, LEMS, etc. It has a mandate of training and developing techniques in Applied Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Accounting, Commerce and Home Economics.

I want to use this medium to greet all my greatest administrators and all my lecturers in Public Administration department at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. I love you all.

Great institution of learning

Formerly known as Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo (OSPO) but the Late Olusegun Agagu (Fmr. Governor of Ondo State) decided to change the Unique Name of the Institution to One of the Sons of State from Akoko lands (Rufus Giwa - CEO Unilever Group) who died in a ghastly motor accident on his way back from PDP Political Rally in 2005!

A good scenery, the students resuming today after the Christmas and New break, as for me and here on a business trip, Installation of the lift at the new Rector's building. The Polytechnic, Owo.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo is known for its Advancement Through Technology. Is my Jerusalem with Positive Values and Productive and Conducive Atmosphere, Commitment to Excellence, Cooperation, Support, and Empowerment, with Sense of Humor and Open Communication.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is formerly called Ondo State polytechnic its foremost polytechnic of the Old Ondo State. The institution has produced great men and women in various fields such as Engineering, Environmental, Business, Agric and many more from various departments that exists in the institution today. Over the years when it was established in the 80s with few departments now boast of over 10 departments of different fields of studies. The institution has grown over the years in infrastructures, manpower, population and administrators.
