Loved it!!! It was sooo delicious every meal. We had surprise menu. The service, the foods, the atmosphere is 10/10! Highly recommended!

An unexpected adventure in Utrecht. We had the three course introductory menu, which was really great and well explained by the staff.
Starters, main dishes and (ginger) ice cream as dessert prove the wide variety of this kitchen.

We had the introductory menu, and it was amazing. The service was also friendly and they explained each food we got. Atmosphere was also nice, they have nice decorations and table setting! Will definitely visit again next time!

I'd give 6 stars if possible. The best restaurant in Utrecht. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We tried the chef's meat and vegan menus and they were really delicious. 😋

The restaurant offers three course meals, either by your choice of starter, main and dessert or preselected surprise menu from the chef to try all must-try dishes.

Opted for the surprise menu, as we didnt know what to order. The starters were super nice, the main dish consisted of 2 rice dishes, and we got a bunch of sides with it.
Dessert was really good too.

The staff were very informative about every dish.

The sample 3 course menu was absolutely delixious. Sadly we couldn't finish everything. Absolutely worth a visit! But you need to make reservations!

Afghanistan cuisine was new to us, and we just thought to give it a try when bumping into this restaurant in Utrecht. Staff was very kind to help us to find a table, and serve the meals quickly but professionally as we had limited time. We tried the surprise 3-course menu which covered 60% of the dishes on the menu card, and found ALL OF THEM very delicious! Some dishes a little bit spicy, but absolutely tasty. The food reminded us of Indian and Lebanese cuisine, but the spice was milder and with its unique taste and flavor. The restaurant was also very child-friendly and surprised us again at the end. Highly recommend Sarban, and will surely come back again with reservation!

Great experience, very friendly service, kind warm people and delicious food. We had the "surprise" menu with a mixture of starters and mains, and it was generous and super tasty. 👌

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here this week. I chose the vegetarian surprise and said didn't like green beans so there was no bad surprise! I absolutely loved every part of the menu - delicious, rich flavours. My mum and son chose dishes from the meat menu and also thoroughly enjoyed theirs. A cosy welcoming place that I'd definitely recommend!

A shockingly great meal with new flavors in every bite. The ‘sampling’ dinner at 35 euros was well worth it, and left me wondering why restaurants all over the world don’t copy the idea. A don’t miss if visiting Utrecht.

Was here with a group from work. I've never had Afghan food so can't comment on authenticity..

I did have a really nice meal. Different starters, different mains, excellent desserts!
Cooking to me seemed somewhere between Kashmir and Iranian. Fairly mild, very automatic. Everything was good but the slow cooked chicken really stood out, so tender and juicy!

Service was pretty good, would have been nicer if they spoke Dutch.

All in all a nice experience, I will be back

Absolutely loved this dining experience. It was my first time trying Afghani cuisine and it was amazing. The staff at this restaurant give everything they have. The best customer care I've experience in a while. The menu has something for everyone and the portions are so generous one can barely finish the main course. The food is delicious. Some good wine options as well. The decor is Afghan influenced and located just by the canal it is in the right setting. Highly recommended 👌

Saraban in Utrecht is a fantastic Afghan restaurant. The food is great, the staff is welcoming, and the ambiance is perfect for a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Our group celebrated a birthday with the chef’s surprise menu (starters with Afghan bread, main dishes with flavored rice, and desserts). We highly recommend the chef’s surprise menu. The quality, freshness, and deliciousness are on the mark for dining enjoyment. The house wines are nice compliments to the meal. The drink menu has many choices with bar and coffee choices at prices lower than expected. The reservation was at 20:15 on a busy Friday. We were seated earlier than our reservation time as our table was available and ready. The restaurant was full with couples, families, and friend groups with a pleasant hum of happy people noise from 20:00 - 22:00 (departed for our train and missed our opportunity for coffees). At the end of the meal, our birthday guest received a special dessert drink, the liquor is heated at the table for a nice presentation and experience. The staff were busy but attentive to the guests. Dutch and English menus are available. There’s an opportunity to create more atmospheric elements at the tables. We wanted to relate this delicious food to its homeland, to learn more about the Afghan food with its historical and cultural origins. We look forward to returning for another wonderful dinner.

Really high quality food. Hospitality was excellent and I loved the unique vibes for the place. We tried the surprise menu in which we tried 50-60% of the dishes and another set menu of our choice from starters , main course and dessert. I loved both options. The portions were filling not so small not so big 🙂they have vegetarian options too.

I always wondered the taste of the Afghan cuisine and what a pleasant surprise!. The staff is very friendly, explains the dishes clear and make sure you are comfortable in their house. We choose (and highly recommend) the "introduction menu" which is multiple small dishes per course given you a good taste of the rich food culture. It was a magic journey, not too spicey, not too sweet. The location, next to the canals of Utrecht makes this a perfect event. Will come back for sure!

The ambience and food was really good. We went for the 3 course menu instead of surprise menu. It was Christmas night so probably that's why service was slow as it was very busy. Hospitality of the waiters was great!

You can get a 3 course meal, either choose yourself between the items or get the “surprise” menu which is multiple small dishes per course. This is a good choice specially if you are going for the first time, so you can taste different dishes.
