Honestly an amazing spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Maastricht.
The brandweerkantine is a unique place, and I’m not saying this lightly. As a repurposed fireman’s station it is pretty big, making it suitable for groups and families. To counter this, they installed a whole back area where students or solitary visitors and can sit at a long bar to study or work.
The kitchen works together with a local bakery and brings fresh plates, many of them vegetarian and all of them delicious.
They offer some decent breakfast options and a wide variety of drinks. About the drinks, I’ve never visited in the evening but I did take a look at the back bar and was pleasantly surprised by the selection of spirits on display. Many of them are for specific cocktails and are not generally found in brunch spots, let alone restaurants that also have cocktails on the menu. Think Gaillano, Drambuie, .. the likes.
So I assume their drinks are up there too. Service is a bit slow depending on the level of attendance, but it’s a laid back atmosphere so don’t expect 4-star attention at all times.

It's one of my favorites in Maastricht.
Food is to die for, from starters to desserts.
It starts well when, after ordering, they give you a warm sourdough bread basket with olive oil and salt flower.
I was already happy with this, but then a feast started. Everything is well thought, with mediterrean flavours and beautiful ingredient combinations.
The setting has a cool, industrial, 60's vibe to it. They are understaffed, but service is smooth and unpretentious.
Cocktails are spot on and beer selection is also on point.
There is really nothing negative to say about this place. Just go and repeat.

The “Brandkweerkantine” is a great restaurant and meeting spot in a refurbished fire station that also houses studios and offices. It offers a selection of breakfast options, salads and lunch options. You can not reserve a table and it does get busy during brunch and lunch hour so make sure to come early enough or you’ll need to wait in line. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great spot to come with friends and family for a quick lunch while visiting the city of Maastricht.

Category OMG! What an amazing spot. Established in a former fire brigade this somewhat over the top hipster heaven offers a great atmosphere. Wide, light and great foods and drinks. Reasonable prized. Well detailed. Take a look at the cover of their menu. In this place fairytales become true.

Visited this renovated and transformed old firehouse a while back. It has a nice large open space, ideal for large groups. Restaurant style center with spacious seating arrangement. Seems to attract a younger (student) crowd and has a nice laid back hipster vibe to it. Food we had was decent and drinks up to standard. Staff was friendly and they seem to organize a variety of events. Positive impression from first visit.

Delicious, fresh and creative food, surprisingly generous portions, one of the best meals we have had in a long while, and amazing value. We ate an avocado and buckwheat salads with a delicious sage cream, some really creative sandwiches and a spiced pea soup.
Very friendly service. And a noticeably diverse clientele - from young families like us, to large groups of students, couples and more.

It was the first place I marked on my 'Want to go', 'Food & Drinks' and 'Maastricht' list. It looked like it had such a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere.

After wandering around for like a couple of hours, we decided to come over and have lunch here. This nicely crowded place, located a bit outside of the city center, was completely like I imagined. Kind of a real-life Pinterest board. Food was great and not expensive at all, staff friendly as well. Definitely would go back 👌🏻

Tasty fresh affordable food. Style of the place is also easy going, could maybe describe it as a fancy canteen. The people saying the service takes long time - I was surprised to see something like 2 waitresses for the whole canteen! I would say understaffed for the amount of tables to be served!

I love the Brandweerkantine. Great combination of no frills, but good quality and fairly unique (for the Netherlands) menu options.

I especially looove the halloumi simit....

Set in an old firestation the venue's location drew our curiousity. A community centre and food venue, it is simplistic in design, with an inviting and social atmosphere.
The service was fantatsic. Friendly, attentive, and good natured.
The food. Wow! We were there for the dinner menu. It went above and beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal, good service, a relaxed atmosphere and some good music.

An amazing place to sit, converse and eat. The only "bad" thing about this place was they are too generous :) The bread and olive oil that they serve when you arrive is already so delicious that you feel full after you eat the starters that you actually ordered :)

Make sure to visit it. Great place.
