Bhamarkot Kot Devi Mandir

Bhamarkot is an ancient and historic Kot Devi temple which lies on the west side of Panchkhal valley on the beautiful hill top of Kavre Palanchowk District Nepal. The history of this temple and the village goes back to the Mallas and Lichibi period of Nepal, which is well before king Prithibi Narayan Saha. At that time it was a kingdom of Bhamarkot and there was a Bhramari Devi Temple and a palace of the king. When Gorkhali king Prithibi Narayan Saha fought to unite the kingdom of Nepal, the king of Bhamarkot fled away and abandon his palace and the temple. His palace and the temple was destroyed by the natural causes while it was vacant.
After a long period of time , when no one came to clam the palace and the temple people of Bhamarkot dough out some of the idol from the destroyed temple and started worshiping as before. But they did not bather to rebuild the temple or the palace. The ritual continued as usual and still going on now.
In 2058 BC, I (Durga P. Adhikari) provided some fund to build a small temple. With the fund my brother Mr. Arjun P Adhikari build a temple at its original spot. With the new temple in place, it was convenient for all the people around and abroad. But the glory of people did not last long. This small temple was completely destroyed by the massive earthquake of Nepal in 2072 BC.
Now we are working to rebuilt this historic and ancient icon with the help of the local and people around the world. This place is so beautiful you need to be there to understand and feel the nature. The view of the Himalayas are so spectacular from hear, one needs to be present to describe. People of Bhamarkot are very pleasant, honest and hardworking and the beauty of the nature is indescribable. one must visit this place in their lifetime when they are in or around Nepal.
