Staying at Shivapuri Heights Cottage in Kathmandu was pretty cool. It’s tucked away near Shivapuri National Park, so it's super peaceful but still not too far from the city. The staff are super friendly and make you feel at home right from the start. The rooms are nice and cozy, with some local decor that gives them a more personal touch.

The view is definitely the best part. Waking up to see the Kathmandu Valley and the mountains in the distance is something else. They've got this nice garden where you can chill with your morning coffee or just take a walk and relax.

The food there was great, too. It’s a mix of local dishes and some international stuff, all made with fresh ingredients. Eating there feels like having a meal with family, but with an awesome view.

If you’re into hiking or just want to explore the area, the cottage is in a great spot. The staff can point you in the right direction for some cool walks in the national park.

Overall, Shivapuri Heights Cottage is a great place if you’re looking for a laid-back spot with nice views and good vibes. It’s like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have an amazing house in the mountains.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The view was amazing. The common rooms are cozy and comfortable with a lot of board games.
They also have two friendly dogs.
Worth every penny.
So if you are thinking of going, please do! 🙏

A beautiful, quiet, place in nature, but still close enough to access Kathmandu city! Beautiful landscaping, fantastic views. We stayed in a tent and it was a great experience- very comfortable inside, clean, and everything we needed. The food was homecooked and absolutely amazing and fresh. The owner Steve was always available to chat and give advice. Remina (hope I have her name correct) was always checking in to make sure everything was fine in our room and we got just what we wanted to eat. Loved our stay!

A lovely tranquil location with amazing views over the Kathmandu valley. Very friendly host and relaxed service. A well stocked bar to enjoy evening views, and my wife had a massage which she said was excellent. We then had a Jacuzzi which also enjoys the scenic views. This is much more than a 2 * premise and for anyone wishing to spend a few nights away from it all - this is it. Really enjoyable stay.

Beautiful and warm place with friendly staff and nice rooms/cottages. The view from the cottage and from the jacuzzi in the evening is fantastic. We also had a great massage. I absolutely recommend it if you want a relaxing stay away from the busy center of Kathmandu. The road up to the cottages can mostly be done by car but the last part of the road is a bit more difficult (in the information that the accomodation provides before the stay this is also stated very clear). The last part walking to the cottages is perfectly doable for any more or less fit person. Don’t bring big suitcases though.

A relaxing getaway that is not far from the city but enough to feel you are in the forest. The service and food are especially good. There is also a hot tub and sitting pool. The main lodge/cottage area is so cozy. Lovely place, warm hospitality. The only thing I would change would be softer mattress or the option for a mattress topper. Also, visitors should be aware that, as the place is on a hillside, everywhere is accessed through stone ascending/descending paths.
Wholeheartedly recommend.

If you are looking for a relaxing place, with awesome views, excellent service and good amenities, come here. We were upgraded to an even larger cottage than we had reserved. The manager, Ramita, runs the place so well and the staff are also very good.
Regarding price, we probably could have gone for a more economical choice here, but as a splurge special event, we managed it.

The place is amazing for sightseeing. You can get an amazing view of Kathmandu from here. So if you are planning for the next destination for refreshment then you can go here. I have also seen people coming here. But please don't make the place dirty by throwing waste.

Absolutely stunning place. My husband and I had a room in the main house for a couple nights to celebrate getting married and finishing up some work, and it was so peaceful - we didn't want to leave. The staff were amazing and the food was wonderful. (When we arrived, they asked if we had preferences for food for the following night, and we said no, so they 'surprised' us with a coconut curry - it was marvelous.) About going up - we paid a taxi a bit extra to go almost all the way up, and he had no problem, though we did walk down almost to the bridge on the way back since it was easy to go downhill, and we assumed it would be super easy to meet a taxi there. (It was.) It was a lovely walk--and a perfect overall stay.

What an amazing location! A beautiful view over the top of Kathmandu in a serene hillside. During our stay the food was consistently delicious and the staff were excellent and really friendly. You can choose to join other guests at dinner or eat more privately. Fresh produce from the extensive gardens and unlimited supply of filtered water make it feel eco friendly.

This was our second time staying at Shivapuri. The cottages are a homestay in the hills with great views. We use the hot tub and enjoy the view from there. The food is delicious and my kids love the Nepali food and how warm the staff are to them. The view from the terrace is amazing while you eat. On our last visit, we were there for Diwali and enjoyed the ceremony, the staff lit a fire for us as we sat outside our cottage and watched the Tihar lights over the valley drinking wine after putting our kids to bed. You get a view over the valley from the cottages. The terraces are full of fruit and veg used in the kitchen and are interesting and beautiful to see. We will definitely be back for the views and a great spot to have dinner and relax.

A little piece of paradise close to the buzzing Kathmandu. I loved the room, the view, the garden, the food was splendid and the massages were complementing this great experience. The lady who runs the facility is amazing: caring, helpful and she ensured that my short stay will make me come back again.

Perfect location to be with nature. Great food, warm hospitality. Ramila (or Ramita) didi and her team made our stay into the best break ever. Rooms are cozy and perfect for family crowds. Alexa and echo dots in the room and in public places add to the fun.

Do not expect elaborate options on food menu. If you stick to the package set, that would pretty much cover your whole days flooding needs. Food is best. If you are a dog lover, two little wonders would be there!
A MUST VISIT PLACE!

This was a lovely place to stay for our family. The cottages were lovely. We had our own private fires in the garden. The hospitality was the prime feature. My father in law was able to learn how to make dal baat and the children had a dip in the hot tub. Everyone left happy.

Truly a home away from home. Neeru, Ramita and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming 😊

So lovely to be out of the Kathmandu pollution and back to a natural environment. Enjoyed a lovely massage and dip in the plunge pool, perfect in the monsoon heat 👌🏽

A beautiful spot away from the hustle and bustle of central Kathmandu. There is a wonderfully warm atmosphere, emanating not only from the owners and staff but also from the family dogs!
Great food (on a set time/menu basis), hot tub and plunge pool (for a small fee), and yoga/massage sessions (again for a fee).
Would happily recommend.

Shivapuri Heights Cottage was the ideal place to stay after travelling and trekking in Nepal for 2 weeks prior to our stay. We stayed as a family of 4 including an 8 and 5 year old and this place was one of the best we have ever stayed with kids. Not only were the staff fantastic to us, they were so much more for the kids and were able to help us out on every need including cooking with the kids, walks and general good company. The food, service, staff, host and presentation of this place is really top shelf, even for Nepal. Yes it is a bit out of town but that’s the reason and yes it is a little walk up the hill but it was all easy enough and the kids beat us up the hill every time. I wanted to go back as soon as I got home.

Beautiful place with spectacular views of Kathmandu. It is a perfect place to unwind, with various massage options, a plunge pool and walks to a nearby river and monastery. The accommodation is great in itself but what stood out for us were the owners and the staff. We arrived with a stomach bug from our time in Kathmandu and they couldn't have been more compassionate, helpful and kind. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
