It was great to visit. It's not a large museum, actually quite a small but there are many interesting exhibits in the museum. The guide explained in English and she's very knowledgeable and we asked her many questions.
When I met "JUANITA" my heart hurt a bit...

Highly recommended. The video and guided tour were well worth the entrance fee. The story of the sacrificed Inca child's discovery and preservation was absolutely fascinating and disturbing in equal measure. Excellent guided tour.

Incredibly preserved artefacts. Had to wait 25 mins until the next tour in English but lots of benches in the courtyard and it is a nice place to sit and read. Start the tour with a video about the discovery process and then through the rooms of the museum and finally you get to see Juanita the incredible girl found as a sacrifice to the gods. Definitely would recommend, tour guide is free but it is recommended to leave a tip :)

Definitely recommend this tour. We did the tour in English with a fantastic guide named Maria. Super interesting artifacts and the stories are just incredible. Maria was so knowledgeable and welcoming of questions, she is so passionate about the information it's more like listening to a story than to a guided museum tour. The whole thing only takes about 45 mins. I'm not generally a tour OR museum person, but I actually enjoyed this. Great experience

Incredible museum and very interesting story about Juanita, the frozen maiden from the times of Incan sacrifices. Includes a 20 minute video in English/French/German and a guided tour explaining the discoveries of the sacrifice rituals. A bit spooky to see the preserved frozen body at the end of the tour though

A lot of negative reviews on here regarding the cost etc which almost made us not go. However, we are glad we did.

Firstly, the reason it's cheaper for Peruvians is because it's their heritage, and its only right that its cheaper for them.

Secondly, we were sceptical about the guide, however it really enhanced the experience. They covered all the areas of information that were written around artefacts and also gave additional info. The tip is at your discretion as well.

Would 100% recommend, incredibly interesting and informative.

Great museum to get a brief rundown of the child sacrifices by the Incas 500 years ago. The experience starts with a 10 min video to give you an overview of the discovery from the late 1900s up to the 1990's. Then a guided tour of the artifacts and of course the frozen child. Takes no more than an hour. The entry is 25 soles for a tourist and the guide is free but should be tipped. Juanita was not on display when we visited but another child was. Not in good condition but nonetheless an excellent experience. You cannot take pictures in the museum so unfortunately I cannot share any.

Well worth the visit! I am ashamed to admit I had no idea they had found so much evidence of sacrifices, including these mummies! Beautifully preserved and displayed with respect. The tour was given in English and was very informative, they also play a short film for you at the beginning about the discovery of the bodies. A little sobering but fascinating. No photos allowed and I’m pretty sure the entry fee was really decent, they also give a student discount.

Amazing museum with authentic pieces of history !! It's incredible to be able to see the mummy in great condition. The guide was passionate and it was really interesting. It's fascinating to be able to see original objects so I don't understand people complaining about the low light or the ban of taking pictures when it is essential to preserve these objects

Very interesting museum/tour! It starts with an interesting 20 minute video with some background on the discovery of 'Juanita'. Then a guide will take you through the museum in approximately 30 minutes, finishing with the ice mummy.

Guides are available in English. Do bring some extra cash as a tip, because all the guides are volunteers!

Video has English audio. Subtitles are available in Spanish, German, and Italian.

Amazing story, very nice presentation, good guided tour in English (the most important information is provided in a fast and structured way). The entrance fee is only 20 Soles + tip for the guide. Highly recommended!

Our guide made this a five-star experience! The context and information she provided us with was crutial in order for us to understand the historical significance of Juanita's body. Our guide broke down each one of the objects in the rooms and provided scientific and historical context for these as well. Our guides were paid with tips at the end (you pay what you can).

I would have rated this experience at 3-4 if I had not done the guided tour. There is very little information on the displayed objects (as is the case in a lot of Peru's museums) so it is hard to grasp the full meaning behind some of these objects if you don't have context.

Do note that the museum will not allow you to enter with cellphones, cameras or bags. You will have to store these in locked cubbies at the front.
