Abatan River Community Life Tour

We opted for Kayak ourselves and it was turly amazing experience. Our guide helped through kayak as it was our first time.He was really patient with us. Seeing fireflies was just an amazing feeling.lucky me,A firefly sat on my finger🥰

We did a 6:30 pm firefly tour. It was a windy evening so the fireflies were not as intense, but still a delight to see the trees filled with stars.
If you can, I recommend purchasing tickets mid-day as they run day of tour sales only and first come first served. I stopped by and bought tickets at noon for 6:30 and we did not have to wait at all for a private boat.

This was a huge highlight of my trip in Bohol. The magic of the glowing plankton coupled with the beautiful fireflies made for a really special evening. I recommend a kayak as you are much closer to the plankton & it’s more peaceful. It was a shame that my guide was a bit creepy towards me and my friends, flirting etc bc I felt a bit uncomfortable by the end but it didn’t take away from the beauty of the nature & the experience as a whole :))

I read some reviews before joining the buffet lunch. I'm sorry about the disappointments of some, but our expereince was really great. There was enough food and they kept refilling the buffet table and can't complain about any of the food ~ all delish! ~ from appetizers to main courses, to desserts, and soups (I went for the bulalo soup like 5 or 6x, lol!). Staff was great and not pushy for tips (as other people have mentioned). The singer was very good. We were really entertained during the whole ride. It was so fun at the stop where the young performers were. They deserve tips! Loved the over-all experience 😍

We took a tour through Valeroso, which handled driving and costs so no issue with driving there nor tickets - so nice!
As we were informed we came on a good night, so not sure how to plan that (No full moon, light breeze). Multiple trees with FFs and they we incredible to behold. One tree seemingly held countless FF’s. I would recommend this and hope you have a near ideal evening for it too!

On my third visit to Bohol, I was able to catch the firefly tour at the Abatan River. There are two places where natives have observed fireflies in Bohol - one is in Loay, where the Loboc River Cruise takes place, one is Abatan. Natives say the show from the latter is superior.

You can opt to take a kayak or a private boat as soon as it is completely dark, or take the group tour at around 7.30 pm. It's a popular activity, so make sure you get there early and get a slot. We opted for the private tour, which meant a smaller boat with a guide. It cost 1,500 pesos for a forty-minute ride around the river, where they show you to five trees.

Go when there is no moon, for maximum effect. Not only will the fireflies be more pronounced, but so will the stars. Run your hand through the water (don't worry, the river is crocodile free 😅) and see luminescent planktons swimming around.

Pro tip: bring a DSLR if you want to have decent photos or videos.

You would not believe your eyes if ten million fireflies lit up the world as I fell asleep.

The best time to visit here is when the moon is not bright. I got the joiners' tour for only Php450.

Such a cool and unique experience, 'cause this was my first time seeing fireflies, and they did not disappoint to mesmerize me. The trees where they gather look like a Christmas tree!

Such an incredible experience on this firefly tour that we will never forget. We had a sky full of stars, thousands of fireflies, plankton and more. Our amazing guide CJ was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about the amazing fireflies. Make sure you kayak if you can, go not on a full moon, and a calm night with less wind if possible! Such an amazing experience we will not forget!!

It was an incredible experience to paddle a kayak (1100 php for a double seater) at night and enjoy the fireflies.

Best conditions: no moon and high tide

The boat is very noisy and kills a bit the vibe of the experience, so we paddled slower to not be able to hear the engine

Very nice place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Ride in a boat and eat dinner by the sea. They have a nice restaurant that offers delicious foods that are vegetarian/vegan friendly.

Best place to see the fireflies! Cheapest too. Kayak is more Worth it. Very good service. Dont need a tour from a company, just go There and book directly with Them. You should call first tho. Coconut included. Very fun. Can see fluo plankton during high Tide.

Great place 1000P for a double kayak with guide to find the firefly trees. Also possible to go with a motor boat. Beautiful stars, lots of firefly in the trees. Bioluminescent plancton in the water. Magical ride.

We booked direct and got a moto-trike from alona beach 800 return, when we got there we
Were given a coconut as a welcome drink. We chose the option of a private motor boat with skipper and guide. The motor boat took us to 6 sites where the flies live. Very mesmerising.
Well worth it.
