Previously a Provincial Capitol, this building is converted into a National Museum. No entrance fee, one just has to register upon entry. Parking is very limited, we have to park at the church nearby. Place is air-conditioned and has an elevator. Focus is the geological, anthropological and cultural history of the island of Bohol. There is also quite a number of works on display created by National Artist and Bohol native Napoleon Abueva.
Picture taking is allowed but not video.
Well organized and well maintained museum. Highly recommended to visit to learn more about Bohol.

Very nice regional national museum.
Free to visit. It has extensive and interesting display of items related to heritage churches, natural history of Bohol, Asin Tibuok, and fine arts/sculptures.
It is air conditioned inside. Very nice since it can be very hot touring Bohol countryside during the day.
Will visit again if im in Tagbilaran city in the future.

Free admission.
Has a wide collection of items from paintings to animal bones.
The place is so clean and air conditioned, there's an elevator as well.
I really enjoyed my visit here, I learned a lot about Bohol's culture and history.
Parking space is limited, in front of the building near the tennis court.

This is a must see museum if you have time in Tagbilaran city, Bohol. The museum is closed on Monday and usually opens at 9:00 AM. Admission is free and has some very interesting displays on the history of Bohol. There are lots of video presentations including how Asin Tibuok is made. It also appears that Asin Tibuok is available for purchase here.

Fascinating!

This museum is tucked in the metropolis free for admission to serve local and international tourists who wished to dive in the history of the island!

Its spot is perfect and just around the Cathedral Plaza and downtown area. Those who wished to visit must secure a copy of vaccination card.

Ages no limit and hustle free museum.

Guards are well mannered.

Enjoyed my unplanned visit for the first time!

Fascinating and perfectly preserved building. The coral stone walls are polished as if it was a newly built building. Also are the rooms once you go inside. If you've been to the National Museum of Natural History in Manila, this former provincial capitol of Bohol would give you that similar vibe once you came across the building's covered quadrangle. Good thing entrance is free. It also has this beautiful view of the church right across the plaza.

The museum was one of a very few establishments that still required proof of vaccination. We of course carry copies of our Vax cards on our phones. Best part is that entrance was F-R-E-E ! Everything and everywhere costs here in Bohol but entry to their National Museum was free. Yay for free!

The building that houses the museum was, I believe, formerly a government building. It suffered serious damage from the 2013 earthquake. The civic leaders then decided to restore and update the building and convert it into a museum and that's how the Bohol National Museum came about.

The museum is not very big. 2 stories with an open center court. All white walls, tile floors on the ground level and solid wood floors on the upper level. Very museum-like.

The main wing on the ground floor was featuring selected works of Bohol native Napoleon Veloso Abueva who died in 2018. Clearly, Mr. Abueva is a highly skilled artist who not only was a very good sculpture but was also a very talented furniture designer. It is highly likely we saw some of his other works at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Intramuros. I especially liked his self portrait sculpture and his Head of a Horse sculpture.

For me, this was the highlight of our visit to this museum. The museum did have other displays including a history of Bohol but in my opinion, those are minor compared to the work of Mr. Abueva, the father of modern Philippine sculptor and was a National Artist for Sculture.

The well-preserved coral stone walls are fascinating. So are the treasures from our ancestors that were preserved and displayed.

One of the best provincial museums in the Philippines I have been to. The place is well lit and airconditioned. Entrance is free. You will get to know more of the archaeological and theological history of the province as well as the carvings of the famous sculptor born in Bohol.

The museum was opened to the public in 2018. It used to be the Provincial Capitol Building between 1860 and 2013. It was damaged by a n earthquake in 2013 but was reconstructed afterwards. The museum has sections dedicated to Bohol natural history and biodiversity, archeological excavations as well as artwork (Boholano sculptor Napoleon Abueva). One section solely showcases the rehabilitation efforts made on the old churches damaged during the earthquake. The collection is rather small but interestingly and nicely presented.
The museum is open from 8 am to 4.30 pm (except Monday). Free admission.

The National Museum of Bohol, located at the heart of Tagbilaran City Commercial district, was formerly the historic Bohol Provincial Capitol before it became severely damaged by the 2013 Bohol Earthquake. Since the Provincial Capitol has relocated to its new building, it has been restored and converted into a museum. It is situated right across the Tagbilaran City Rizal Park and St. Joseph Cathedral. The Bohol National Museum showcases several exhibits including a collection of the works of Napoleon Abueva, a native of Bohol, who was declared as a National Artist for Sculpture. He is also known as the "Father of Modern Philippine Sculpture" and one of his famous creations was the Sandugo Blood Compact Site monument.

No admission fee, which was great but required vaccination cards. We went there during the women's month and they had roses and signs for pictures. They have friendly guards too .

The museum had very good lighting and had detailed information about each works/design

But for me, the museum needs more arts and designs.

"Grand entrance" to the museum because of the hall in the middle. Aircon is good. Well curated artifacts from the church ruins and details their restoration efforts. Courteous staff also. Clean CRs. Too bad the 2nd flr is closed due to repairs. Definitely worth the time if you're into museums and history.

A must for the knowledge of the Phillipines. It's free, but please, donate. So they can afford to add more to the museum. EVERYTHING, was lost in the earthquake and flood 1p years ago.
So it's not a big attraction yet. But there adding to it, with donations
