Very unique heritage church in San Joaquin, Iloilo which is a historical landmark and National Cultural Treasure. Its facade made of coral stones depicts the Battle of Tetuan, Morocco, and is the only one of its kind in the Philippines. It is said to be a homage of the priest who built the church to his father who served in the said battle.

I was influenced by my boyfriend’s love for history. He invited me to visit churches of southern Iloilo and also told me the history of the province. San Juaquin Church, compared to other churches of Iloilo is one of the most preserved churches especially it sculptures at the front. The retablo was also beautiful.

Small, simple and historic. Amazing church. Would 100% recommend to visit this church if you happened to visit Garin Farm.

More than the picturesque facade detailing the battle of Tétouan capturing the Moors fleeing the battle but no image of a Spanish conquistador is displayed. Walk further inside the church and your fascination with gold will flourish as the retablo is brushed with that perculiar element.

I really like San Joaquin. Very serene. Very peaceful. Feels rural, but has convenience stores around. An ideal suburb had it only been nearer to Iloilo City. The church is beautiful.

Also among the spanish baroque architecture church in the first district of the province of Iloilo.. it is near the town municipal hall and the sports complex, and the covered garinasium multipurpose gym... like the Miagao Church it was also renovated recently...

Every tourist must visit thia place aside from Garim Farm. Simple yet stunning architecture and pf course one of the living witnesses to Filipino Catholics.

A great work of art

St. Joachim Parish Church, commonly known as San Joaquin Church is a well preserved church. It's worth visiting this national cultural treasure in the southwestern part of Iloilo. St. Joachim sometimes spelled "Joaquin", the husband of St. Anne, are the parents of Blessed Virgin Mary. Saints Joachim and Anne feast day is every July 26.

The facade depicts the Tetuan War. Also check the magnificent interior embelished in faux gold and other ornaments.
