It’s a hidden gem - and if you are lucky and willing to travel for a bit to get here, you will have your almost private slice of paradise you will never forget.

Located on a beautiful beach in a quiet part of Cuyo (opposite of the port and Capstan beach), Anino resort offers you a beautiful lagoon that is perfect for watersports, and then a golden beach and lush tropical gardens to feast your eyes on. The huts are spacious and comfortable and I truly loved the attention to detail: from dimmed lights to create cozy atmosphere, mats provided to meditate or streach after your kiting sessions, to mosquito nets in every window (not that you will find many flying around). The outdoor bathroom and your own little garden add something to the luxury. But that’s „just” your accommodation - let’s talk about kitesurfing.

So far in our kiting journey we haven’t been to a better spot. The wind is constant (out of 17 days just 1 day with too little wind), ranging usually 20-25 knots and is usually extremely stable. The lagoon is spacious, and most probably you can enjoy it almost to yourself - during our stay there were maximum 5 kites in the water, which makes this a wonderful place to begin your journey if you want to learn (Artur, the instructor is amazing). The staff is always there to help you launch or land and you can leave your gear at the beach storage, meaning you can be in the water in no time at all. Those enjoying the waves can simply cross the reef and kitesurf in the deeper water, and downwind trips around the island can also be organized. It’s also the only place on the island which is still kiteable during some low tides.

Thought the food isn’t too great in the Philippines? Think again. Victoria is an excellent cook, serving her magic in dishes that make everyday a feast, with dinners being the highlight of the day. Each day we were served something different and there is also a selection of spirits: wine, whiskey, rum to order and enjoy.

And after all this, there are the people, who are just amazingly lovely. Urlich and Victoria and both fantastic to talk to and overall beautiful people. The place they so lovingly created and call home will make you want to spend as much time there as possible. The whole staff is made of beautiful people too. They take care of this place to the smallest detail and are just very kind and always smiling, making the atmosphere as hospitable as it gets.

I understand why some stay here for 3 months at a time. This place is like no other and we hopefully will be back for at least a month next time we can.

If you don't need crowds or parties to feel energized and are ready to just breathe tuned to the relaxed pace of this spot, Anino will be the secluded paradise in which you can enjoy the nature, the sports, the privacy and the heartwarming atmosphere. Worth the time and the energy needed to get there - and even though I get seasick, I promise it is worth taking the 20h ferry ride (just accept there is no fixed schedule).

We loved it.

Thank you Anino, thank you Urlich and Victoria for the best (kiting) holiday. Until next time.

Anino kite resort is just the perfect place to be if you like to kitesurf in flat water, eat fantastic food, sleet to the sound of the wind and the waves and be on a quiet place away from the busy life. Victoria and her staff always make sure you have everything you need. The cottages are perfectly made with all its small details. The swiss cottage is the best one, with an outdoor shower, private outdoor space and a big spacious room with a big confortable bed to relax. I would highly recomend to stay there.

This is my opinion so you are welcome to experience it yourself. Good points - beautiful views, nice huts.. and that's it. Prepare to have a book with instructions and pricelist for every move. Entrance is 50. Do not expect to have a menu or something similar. If you plan to swim - forget. 300 meters only 20 cm deep and weed, not sand. Check my pictures. Kiting can be good but expect to kite one two days a week and shoes recommended plenty of sea urchins. Staff is worst in Philippines. No water in toilets. Really difficult to get in. Expect to walk 10-20 minutes. No people around at all. Maybe is good for some but if you want some change you need to take tuktuk for 200. Dinner is 5 times more expensive than Cuyo.
