Easy to visit. No guards. There is a hole in the metal fence if the gate isn’t opened. The stupa dates back to the 2-3rd century I believe. A must see if in the area

It's a good place to visit, it's fully maintained, although there is no guide available, and you will not even find any information board.

Please do climb on top of it... The path is a bot dangerous but anyone under 40 can easily climb it... The view from the top was serene...

It's a good place if you are really interested in history and I will suggest that you should visit taxila which is known as an ancient city of Pakistan

Never knew about this.
The Mankiala Stupa is located around 35 kilometres from Islamabad in the village of Mankiala near the G.T. Road. Mankiala is a union council of the Gujar Khan sub-district of Rawalpindi and well-known for the ancient stupa.

According to historians, Mankiala Stupa dates back to the Gandhara period, and there are several tales associated with it. One of the most fascinating tales about Mankiala Stupa is that Buddha sacrificed some of his body parts at this place to feed hungry tiger cubs.

Worth visiting site for history lovers because of following reasons
1. Very well preserved archeological site
2. Easily accessible on car/ motorcycle
3. Only 2-3 km away from main highway
4. Absence of any board for information/ historical importance of the stupa for tourists
5. Should have a guide for information
6. Should be maintained as a tourist destination
7. Indication for direction of historical site are missing which should have started from the highway

Best place to visit. Almost 2600 years old Buddhist Stupa located in Rawalpindi. All people should know and visit here to know about the old history or old ancient places.

It is a second century Stupa. This place contains lots of historical, Archeological and Anthropological Importance. A must visit place for students, tourists, researchers, writers, philanthropists, and other like minded people. You can also come with your family and friends. It is almost 1.5 km from GT road heading towards Lahore. It is not far from Rawat city. Weather conditions are similar to Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Tourist facilities are absent but still a good place to visit.

بدھ ازم کے لئے مذہبی جگہ...
Mankiala Stupa
According to folk lore, Lord Buddha when passing this region saw seven hungry tiger cubs. He cut off some parts of his body or entire body to feed them. This Stupa commemorate this event, and is the largest in Pakistan.

Good place to visit for history lovers. Ancient historic events unroll before the visitor. Access from GT road is ok.

It reminded me dharmarajika stupa at Taxila. Both are somewhat similar in style of construction and nature so it can be related with Buddhist. If so, then it is very ancient and need some care by Government as it is not well maintained and loosing its shape with passage of time.

Stupa is located in Mankiala Villlege which is about 7 to 8 KM from Rawat and 2 KM from Sagri Mor (turn) on GT Road.

Loved to see the fossil rocks upclose. The authorities have done decently well to atleast fence it. Some restoration work has also been done at the bottom of it.
