An interesting exhibition about Jewish life in Galicia. It’s not your typical Jewish museum but it tells the story through a series of photographs, which are a testimony to a rich life long gone

One of the best museums I've ever visited. Just the right amount of reading, superb photography, beautiful bookshop with quality literature and a few gifts.
There are 5 sections to the museum. Read the website for an explanation as to why only section 5 includes people.
I cannot recommend this museum enough to anyone visiting Kraków.

Great museum that profoundly enriched my understanding. It's easy to walk through all the different exhibits and they offer a wealth of information, most of which is in both English and Polish. The different approaches were also helpful: some parts of the exhibit offer a lot of basic, factual history, while others tell personal stories of particular individuals. There's a lot of printed text but it's worth taking the time to read, and the pictures are really stunning. From here it's also easy to go to the old synagogue and the "new" old cemetery. They have a good restroom facility and gift shop emphasizing printed literature. It can be an emotional experience and I appreciated that the environment was quiet and not crowded so you could take the time needed to compose yourself.

From the beginning to the end I was in tears.
It transfers the pain much more than Schindler’s museum.it explains and makes you understand what was going on.

I'm not a fan of museums unless they are organised very well. And this one is definitely well organised. It is interesting even without an audio guide, I've learned a lot about Jewish people of Krakow and Poland in general thanks to this place. I love photography and especially photos with history or personal stories. It was sometimes funny, sometimes very touching as it should be. I loved the room with 10 stories the most. Thank you!

Enlightening but very sad and shocking. All should see this extremely well documented exhibition as history tends to repeat itself. Russia is today currently trying to continue what they did with Jewish people during WWII and did to Ukraine during the Holodomore.
All must never forget.

It is located in the Jewish quarter, Kazimierz and fits perfectly with the surroundings. As of beginning of March, there are two exhibitions: Helena Rubinstein and Traces of Memory.
I enjoyed greatly a story about First Lady of Beauty: her beginnings in Kazimierz, then first cosmetic launches in Australia and huge success with makeup products later on.
Traces of Memory is about a collection of photos with detailed descriptions split into four sections. If read thoroughly, then it takes about 2 hrs to visit.

Loved the photos and the thoughts written, all made very human, easy to comprehend and hitting in the right feels. This is how you show tragedy and the aftermath.

Brilliant permanent exhibition about what Jewish life in Galicia is like after the holocaust - really well organised and thought out. Beautiful photos and superb explanations.

Superb temporary photo exhibition documenting current and recent religious life in Krakow's Jewish community

The best Jewish Museum in Krakow. If you are interested in real Jewish culture and heritage this is the best option. Skip the fake Jewish restaurants and head to this excellent and well curated institution.

Interesting museum going through the recent history of Jews in Galicia with photographs - the buildings destroyed or left dormant , how they were in their prime, the holocaust and the renewal of this structures

Open Mondays - information for the permanent exhibit is in Polish and English, temporary exhibit is currently in Polish but there seemed to be a companion app with English.

I would say it’s absolutely worth visiting if you are patient enough to read long paragraphs (available in English and Polish). I spent 2 hours in this museum.

The first half tells you a story about a Jewish family that in an attempt to save their lives had to leave their home in Poland and move further East towards Russia. Their journey to Israel moved me to tears because it involves a whole different aspect. How they prayed in secret, how they had to work for 8 hours in extremely cold temperatures, how they once were people who provided shelter to others and now they had no home. But I say we should never forget the pain experienced by them because these are cruelties against humanity and they should never ever happen again. It also includes the story of Polish people along with Poland’s Jewish people.

The second half of the museum depicts the lost heritage of the Jewish people that includes a number of things like destroyed synagogues, crematoriums of people who couldn’t be properly cremated and all of it that is scattered across half of Europe and Asia. Attached are some of the photographs that will give you a peep into the motive behind opening this museum.

There is a lot to read so you better start your day with this museum or reserve a separate day for it. Outside is a cafeteria where you can relax after all the reading, buy a novel or two.

Very interesting museum. Photos are very enlighten. The different stages in the exhibition are very enlightening about what happened to the Jewish community after the war.

A very sobering experience and a reminder of the horrors that went on during the war especially for someone like me who did not realise the extent to which Poland suffered due to the fact it is geographically between Germany and Russia, two of the aggressive nations.

For someone like me who didn't understand what Poland had gone through during the war, this was an incredibly eye-opening experience from a historical standpoint and a personal perspective. It made my daily worries dissapear because nothing i will ever encounter will be as bad as this.

The museum was laid out really well taking you though a story with pictures and artifacts such as letters etc from the time to give you a real feel for the story.

This is an important museum on a similar level as Schindler's Factory museum in Krakow.
The exhibition focusses on Jewish life before and after the Holocaust in Galicia. It shows all the blooming Jewish communities in the region before German occupation, how deserted all those communities became after the war and how they either became almost forgotten or restored.
The museum has changing temporary exhibitions which where really interesting as well!

Remnants of a people, of Galicia, of memories.
Comprehensive repository of memories, pictures, diaries of the drama of a world and a region that was Galicia that disappeared with the 2nd WW. The exhibition is about all that, photos are documenting that loss and supplementing what is left and helping keep its memory alive.

I thought this was a very interesting, well-written and well-presented gallery.
If you have the time to read through each exhibit, I recommend visiting.

A very interesting museum. You take a journey of a Jewish families struggle through the 2WW and what they had to go through to get away from the advancing German Army all through there diary and paintings. There are also lots of fabulous photos of war torn Poland. So worth a visit.
