Visiting the Wieliczka salt mine was an amazing and very interesting experience. We really recommend visiting, although you have to be able to walk quite a lot. There is a lot to see and every chamber seems to offer a new surprise. Sometimes it was hard to believe one’s eyes when seeing all the sculptures carved from salt. Our guide on the tour was very nice, fun and able to tell all kinds of stories about the different chambers. At the end of the tourist route there is also a shop and a restaurant. We really enjoyed our visit. No wonder this is an UNESCO world heritage site!

One of the most impressive things I have ever seen! Absolutely incredible! Entirely man made and so detailed, looks like something from a fantasy film! Highly recommend a visit, impossible to understand the scale from these photos, a must visit if you're in Krakow.

A very enjoyable experience. This salt mine is incredibly vast, it's hard to believe that you only visit 1% of the tunnels, which stretch for over 300 km in total. The mine has a rich history, spanning more than 700 years. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing place with a long history of salt mining that resulted in mesmerising excavated 'chambers' and beautifully carved statues and other items. The size of some of the chambers is immense and you will feel like walking through a 3D art gallery. The tour, going from chamber to chamber, takes you from 64m deep to 125m. Definitely worth visiting!

This is a must go! The experience is really good, I do recommend a guide, although it will cost you a little more you can actually learn and understand purposes of different chambers and history behind it. The guides can be bought in town centre and a Sprinter picks you up from hotel. This is a full day activity, there is a restaurant and a shop down underground which takes cash. The most fun experience in my opinion are the huge chambers such as chapel as well as the lift. The lift is tiny 8 people and sometimes miners get on it!!! It is scary but exciting at same time!

Extremely enjoyable experience underground.
At 135 meters below the ground.
With expert guided tour, lasting three hours.
In a heretical environment of original beauty.
My photos do the best, about the unique environment in the salt mine.

My visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mines in Krakow was an awe-inspiring journey that left me utterly captivated. From the moment I descended into this subterranean world, the sheer grandeur of the salt-carved chambers and intricate sculptures took my breath away.

The tour guides were not only knowledgeable but also passionate storytellers, weaving historical anecdotes and geological insights seamlessly into the narrative of the mines. Their expertise added a layer of depth to the experience, transforming each step into a fascinating exploration of Poland's rich mining heritage.

The salt formations, illuminated in a mesmerizing play of light, created a surreal atmosphere that added to the enchantment of the journey. The attention to preserving the authenticity of the mines while ensuring a safe and enjoyable visitor experience was commendable.

Navigating through the labyrinthine corridors and chambers, I marveled at the sheer craftsmanship behind the salt-carved sculptures and chapels, a testament to the centuries of labor that went into creating this underground masterpiece.

The logistical aspects, from ticketing to guided tours, were seamless, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the wonder of the Wieliczka Salt Mines. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-visit for anyone in Krakow, offering a unique and unforgettable glimpse into Poland's subterranean treasures.

My visit to the salt mine in Krakow was a truly fascinating and cool experience. The journey begins with descending down 380 stairs (throughout the entire route, you traverse approximately 800 stairs), providing a unique start to the underground adventure. Comfortable shoes are a must for navigating the stairs and the mine's pathways.

It's advisable to bring a coat, as it can get cold inside the mine. Planning ahead by purchasing tickets in advance is a smart move to ensure a seamless and timely entry.

The touring guides were exceptional, offering insightful information about the history and geological wonders of the salt mine. Their expertise enhanced the overall experience, making the tour both educational and engaging.

About halfway through the route, there is a small cafeteria. While the food options are convenient, it's worth noting that they can be a little expensive. Regardless, having a pitstop provides a chance to rest and refuel before continuing the exploration.

In summary, the salt mine in Krakow offers an extraordinary journey through history and geology. With a bit of preparation and the right gear, it's a must-visit attraction that promises a memorable underground adventure.

Incredible (and salty) experience! 130 meters deep below the surface in a 700 years old Polish salt mine isn’t something you get to do every day. The whole ordeal was made a lot better with a very talented and comprehensive guide taking us through it all. You get history, religion, architecture and lots more in one big, interesting package. The most fascinating part was probably the open chapel and balcony that is in fact being used for actual weddings, ceremonies and more. Without hesitation I’m sure most can conclude it is well worth a visit, even still for the price it costs.

Quite hard to believe most of this is more than 100m underground. Very easy to get to as an individual traveller- we took the bus from the city to get right outside the salt mine. To get back we took the train. Largest underground chapel in the world according to our knowledgeable guide but that’s only the start of it. You can’t visit on your own, you need to join a tour in a language you speak and they offer a few. When you get down there this becomes understandable as if you got lost you’d be stuck. Entry was 122 zloty and we just turned up without booking. We waited about 20 mins for a tour in our language. Ticket includes the museum at the end which a lot of people missed as they were probably tired from the two hours of walking on the main tour. But the museum was one of the highlights for me and had spaces and chambers almost as grand as the main tour. Plus lots of examples of crystals. Places where salt has completely crystallised the structures such as ropes, ladders etc. I definitely would not have understood quite so much about mining the salt or the transportation of it without the museum. We joined a tour in one language and picked it up in another one which was all part of the fun. The self service cafeteria was a good spot for a rest. The main tour was two hours and the museum maybe an hour plus. You would definitely need your walking shoes. We clocked up 6km including the museum, but I think this is an absolute must do when in Krakow. Not a founding Unesco site (1978) for nothing!

Absolutely incredible, would highly recommend. I have no idea how people are so skilled to create such art out of the Salt Mines. We did the tour which lasted about 2 hours, and it was fantastic. I believe we went 164m deep, and only saw 1% of it! Amazing.

THIS IS A MUST SEE! The tour ticket is pretty expensive compared to other attractions but it’s well worth it. It’s a 2.5 hours tour and be prepared to walk up and down a lot of stairs. Definitely recommend to buy ticket in advance if you do not want to wait. There’s parking nearby and restrooms during the short break. The place is beautiful. The downside is the elevator going back up. It is very small and packed, tall people need to watch out.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine exceeded all expectations with its incredible beauty and atmosphere. The lengthy tour allows ample time to immerse yourself in the wonder of each captivating room, each more breathtaking than the last. However, it's important to note that visitors cannot explore independently; instead, they must stick closely to the guide for explanations and to prevent getting lost. While the tour offers a thorough experience, the fast-paced nature and tight schedule between groups may leave some feeling rushed, detracting slightly from the overall enjoyment.

Wieliczka Salt Mine is a must-visit! The tour was fascinating, with stunning underground chambers and intricate salt sculptures. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable. A unique and memorable adventure, highly recommend!
If you stay in Krakow, get a taxi or train to this location. Toilets are available before you go in, as well as underground. There are also shops and a restaurant underground.
The attraction requires a lot of walking down steps, initially around 350 step, altogether you will walk around 2.5 km's. It's warm underground around 17-18 degrees c.

Must go place when you visit Krakow. Tour takes around 2h but it is sooo worth it. Make sure that at the end of your tour visit the museum (just before you go out using the elevator)- then you will be able to see in total 2% of entire mine. Museum is free with the ticket you got for the mine and girls who are taking you on tour of the museum really do their best to answer all of the questions. If the tour is small for museum you will be in for a treat- there is a huge room where you will be able to "hear" the silence 😍

Unique experience! Great guided tour. You need to be able to walk for 2,5 hours at least. The stairs at the beginning are quite a few. Very well ventilated!!!

A very interesting place to visit, perhaps not so much for the history but mostly for the haunting atmosphere once you are underground. The salt cathedral was especially fascinating, as well as the underground river. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Krakow.

Took the English tour on the tourist route. Amazing place. So much to see and it's send that there is a huge amount of other stuff that can't even be fitted into the tour. Took about 1.5 hours getting around, with very quick stops. Def not suitable if you have mobility issues. Guide was hard to hear at a lot of points and would start talking when he arrived at the next destination so often those at the bank of the group of 38 would miss what was said. Incredible place though. Restaurant at the end is fairly good as well. Really worth a visit.

Highly recommend a visit. To tell you what you experience here would not justify what you see with your own eyes.
It's totally awesome from start to finish, a 3 hour tour, but trust me, you do not watch the time while on the tour.

The salt mine is worth seeing. It is a magnificent work. I had heard enough about it, but the fact still surprised me. It's incredibly big. It also tells me something about the Poles. With the tour you will reach several levels from 60 meters to the final 135 meters for tourists. You will see several large chambers. Some have been reconstructed several times during their existence for safety reasons. Now the entire complex has air conditioning, electricity, a concrete paved road, perfect hardwood stairs - it's generally spacious for a mine. The deepest you would go in the mine is below the level of 327 meters, but it is not accessible to tourists. This experience is worth it!
