Salt mines were great. Tour guide was well informed and the tours run like clockwork. Lots of steps down and alot of walking but absolutely worth it to see some of the chambers and the chapel. Amazing, would recommend visiting here.

A very cool experience, if somewhat touristy. Completely unique and really cool, amazing to see all the stuff that has been constructed underground, especially the chapels.

You have to visit with a tour guide, this is part of the ticket. Our tour guide was excellent and did a great job explaining the mines. However, it was sometimes frustrating waiting for the large tour group to all gather together. If you can, join the queue late so you’re in a smaller group!

Amazing place to visit when you're in lesser Poland! So many interesting facts about the mine and it's a very cool place (in more ways than one...so on those really hot Polish summer days, this is a wonderful reprieve from the heat!).

It's a long way down and a long way to walk for 2hrs. However, definitely a must visit when in Krakow. The train from the old town is very simple.

This is a very popular attraction therefore very busy. Even with group tour tickets, you wait in line for an hour to get into the mine. Having said that, it's a site to behold. You pass through many different vast chambers, including an awesome chapel, 130 meters below ground. Our tour guide, Katerina, was excellent and full of information about the history of the mine. There's a cafe at the end of the tour where you can get something to eat and drink before waiting in line to get the small cage lift back to the surface. I would say it's not to be missed if you're in Krakow.

Great place to visit. The salt mines are full of many unique man made and natural sculptures and features. The only thing that put a bit of a sour taste was the price of bottled water at $8 zloty per 500mL bottle.

Wow this place is amazing, interesting experience.
At the beginning you go 65 meter down by stairs, then everything starts from there.
Its like a city underground.
lots of things to see and experience.
at the end you go back to surface by interesting elevator, which was fun for me.
If you planning to go here consider atleast 3 hours.
also there are lots of stairs to down you need to take so if you have problem with your knee, better to consider it in advance.
Also consider buy your tickets one day before if you want to have it in the time you want.

We had a wonderful driver who whilst we were travelling explained everything about Krakow, the ghettos and the Wieliczka Salt mines. The tour down the mines was unbelievable with over 800 steps, up and down! It is an interesting place to visit but wear comfortable shoes!
Oskar, our driver was found through a well known website, and he was brilliant. His English was very good and he was easy to understand.
It was an exhausting but enjoyable morning.

Cool unexpected experience, even if it's a little touristy. Hard to describe the level of grandeur..but it's incredible. Lengthy tour with lots of info and some cheesiness but it doesn't take away from the sheer mastery of all the painstaking work. Both amazing in scale and in the intricacies. Fun, family friendly.

Fantastic tour through the Salt Mine, but be warned there are a lot of steps to negotiate plus walking, but it is definitely worth the effort.

Some of the chambers were unbelievable, and the woodwork involved shoring it up is a great piece of work

What a wonderful experience! We went as a family of 4, with a 4 year old and a teenager who were not bored, even for a second. Always wanted to visit, and I'm happy I finally did! Highly recommended

Great experience getting to tour around and experience the mines. Tour guides were very friendly and able to answer questions anyone had. The salt mines were very impressive, but hard to capture just how impressive. Overall very good.

Surreal atmosphere inside and lush green parks next to the entrance.

Tours in many languages if you are willing to wait. English and polish tours happen quite often. Not advised for claustrofobic peoplefor obvious reasons. Quite expensive for the average of the area.

Refreshing during hot summer days :)

Very nice place, but be careful, there is a very long staircase. 😱 I enjoyed the place, and it was a great comfort when inhaling the smell of salt. 🌊 #travel #vacation #nature

We had lunch 125 meters underground after the tour. Our tour guide was extremely professional. Dress warm and wear comfortable footwear. There are 800 stairs in total. An elevator will take you to the top afterwards. The tour lasts about 2-3 hours. You will be so amazed by everything on the tour that you won't even notice it takes 2-3 hours. GO SEE THIS STUNNING WORLD HERITAGE SITE!!

It is not cheap. 440 zloti for two adults and two kids. But it is definitely worth the money. The tour is guided and all the places are well organized and very clean. The entrance is 54 floors by foot (I had to carry my youngest). Up is by lift. Inside there are statues, churches and decorations. The guide is very professional. There is a tavern at some point. The food is nothing special, and the prices are a little bit high. The tour is about 3 hours.

The story goes that at one stage, a block of salt was more expensive then głód, this 800 years old mine was the kings property (naturally) and grew over the years into this 360 meters deep and in most manual operation! Today it’s a mine still, tourist attraction (in the thousands from what I’ve seen), and a stay over hospital for people with various health issues.. the gardens on top are amazing.. our lady guide, not ily that she worked in the mine for decades, so did her father and grand father ! Well spent two hours into the depth of one of the Lord Of The Ring kingdoms.

Wonderful experience. Not friendly if you have issues with your legs or have a stroller. There ARE a lot of stairs, but worth it if you don’t have issues with the stairs. Guides did a fantastic job.

One of the more expensive tours to take in Krakow, however very worthwhile.

Firstly getting there. USE UBER or equivalent taxi service. It is about 43 plz (£4.50 ish) to get there and about 55-57 plz (£5.50 ish) back to central Krakow.

The admission price for a non-guided English tour was 144 plz (about £24.00). The English speaking tours leave every half hour, but based on all the language tours I heard, they cater for most common languages.

BIG WARNING ..... IF YOU CLAUSTROPHOBIC OR HAVE ISSUES WALKING THIS TOUR IS NOT FOR YOU. Listen to me don't listen to me, it will be your issue not mine ( haa haa get the pun!)

You WALK down 52 flights of short 5 run stairs to get to the start level of the mine. From there you will walk about 5000 steps (whatever that is, so Fitbit told me!)

I am not going to spoil it for you if you are going, but be prepared to be amazed as to what some miners did over the course of about 700 years.

Please note: What felt like the longest walk was the walk to the lift at about 800 meters, but felt like we walked forever! Also the lift does get very cramped and very full to get to the surface!
