The museum is well worth a visit. Discovering the huge role that traditional vianese costume plays in Portuguese culture was fascinating. I especially liked how the social roles of women were presented through the costume. Exploring the museum comes with a bonus of seeing the insides of a grand old bank building that now hosts the collection. The bank vault is now used to display the museum’s collection of gold jewelry, which I found quite clever.

One of the best museums of its kind in Portugal, and the second best museum in the city of Viana do Castelo, it is really worth the visit especially because the price combined with the comparative arts museum is quite economical (€2.20 for a normal ticket for both in 2023). A fantastic museum, very worth it.

Amazing museum for all age. My kids love it. It has all kinds of clothes topical for Portugal. You can see colourful traditional clothes during the years. There are unique exsebition from golden jewelleries. Interactive board for the kids and different tools, helping to melted and proceeded the whole process. The ticket cost 2 EUR and give permission to visit one more museum. It's not free during the weekend, although is written. Enjoy it

Interesting bits of history and culture here. Many costumes and professions to be seen and discovered. There are two levels and a tiny gold museum too.

Wonderful place with beautiful traditional dresses, detailed information on the exhibition in Portuguese and English. Entry is free, not allowed to take photos (I got shouted at after taking this one).

Very interesting museum that provides its visitors the opportunity of exploring the Vianense culture, its history and folklore. A truly fascinating experience!

If you are visiting the city, do not miss this museum, its in a former bank of Portugal building, the place holds a lot of history by the tipical dresses

It was an amazing experience. The museo tells the history of traditional clothe that people used in the past at the Minho Region. It tells the story behind the colors, the embroidery, why they used in some occasions. Seeing the beauty of each piece and how was made step by step.

I enjoyed every little bit of this museum. 95% is translated to English. There are exactly as many words as needed to feel the exhibitions. It is a very entertaining way to get acquainted with the region and its traditions. I was especially surprised by the exposition about making decorative things from gold - I would never imagine it can be so interesting and beautiful and I would spend half an hour in a room of 8 m2. I have also greatly enjoyed the temporal exhibition about a lady Fado singer from XX century, very inspiring and well organised exhibition, as well as the entire museum. Greatly reccommend.

Great museum with great costume displays. If you enjoy the traditional dance and costumes; you owe it to yourself to do a visit. It takes less than an hour to go through all 4 floors. My wife also bought the book at the front and loves it. Would recommend tp anyone who is interested in traditional dance.
