Surf and Trips El Salvador

Mauricio is a legend. He was punctual, accomodating and I had a really great time. He made sure I always felt comfortable and safe and that we found the best waves of the day. His English is perfect which meant our communication was always clear.

I took a last minute trip to El Salvador while between jobs. My goal was to learn to surf. Little did I know that I was going to have one of the most amazing trips of my life, discover an incredible country, and make a great friend.

Mauricio knows El Salvador inside and out. He speaks fluent English, his commitment to safety is unparalleled, and his friendly demeanor and vibe are a reflection on the friendliness of Salvadoreans. Transport that he provides is clean and comfortable.

Beaches, volcanoes, rivers, city life in San Salvador, restaurants, lakes. A hot spring fed waterfall. There is a reason why I hired Mauricio for a week to start my trip and ended up hiring him as a private guide for almost a month.

If you are considering going to El Salvador: go. It is safe and amazing. If you go to El Salvador: hire Mauricio. While his expertise is surfing but I encourage you to also ask him about the other amazing things that El Salvador has to offer. Mauricio will show you the way.

Mauricio is great! It was my sister and I's first time surfing and Mauricio was so patient and understanding. He took his time to make sure we were comfortable in the water. If your looking for someone who knows the area well, will accommodate to you level, and is awesome, then Mauricio is your go-to guy! Thanks so much Mauricio!

Can't recommend Mauricio enough. He made everything so easy for us on our guided surf trip. He is very knowledgeable on all things El Salvador from surf spots, to restaurants, to local fun facts.

He worked his butt off non-stop to make the trip the best for our group and paid attention to all the little details that helped things run smoothly. He is a really high character person who does things the right way and doesn't try to cut corners. He did a great job of adjusting on the go to get the most out of our trip.

He speaks fantastic English and is a cool person to hangout with. Also a good surfer!

As the mother of an 8 year old, Mauricio not only put us at ease but emanated experience and confidence. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and took care if our daughter like if he was her dad! I cant praise him enough!

We were 4 people including a 8 years old girl and it was an amazing experience, we enjoyed it alot. Mauricio was really professional, patient and kind. We had tons of fun. We were safe all the time and well guided.

The best place for surfing

Agora, na última semana de julho de 2019, estive pela terceira vez em El Salvador e, como em 2017, tinha feito um pacote com o Maurício e a Surf & Trips que foi perfeito, não tive dúvidas e marquei com ele novamente.

Desta vez, tive apenas 05 noites e 04 dias para aproveitar as ondas da Região de Sunzal e, por isso, não podia perder tempo procurando ondas e indo atrás do melhor pico de acordo com o swell. Nessa condição, Maurício e Surf & Trips foram, mais uma vez, NOTA 10!!!!!

Como da outra vez, Mauricio passava no hotel por volta das 05h30 pontualmente e, de lá, de acordo com maré edireção e tamanho do swell, íamos direto ao pico que estivesse melhor. Para isso, o conhecimento local de Maurício é primordial!!!! Além disso, ele possui bons contatos com hoteis/pousadas/restaurantes/bares nos picos de surf, circunstância que permite você chegar e ficar num ótimo local da praia escolhida com segurança e conforto.
Surfamos Km59, Punta Rocas, Sunzal e Mizata, com ondas de 03/05 pés. Destaque para Punta Rocas que, apesar do certo perrengue para entrar e sair do mar, é uma onda realmente sensacional!!!! Neste pico novamente a experiência local do Maurício ajuda muito para apontar o melhor caminho sobre as pedras, a hora de entrar e sair, e manter um bom clima no line up com os demais surfistas locais (Punta Rocas é tida como a melhor onda de El Salvador e, por isso, sempre há excelentes surfistas locais na água).

No último dia, surfamos Mizata e a esposa de Maurício nos acompanhou para filmar e fotografar a sessão!!! Sensacional…….fechamos com um almoço num restaurante especializado em ostras, cujas mesas ficam dentro de um rio, com uma comida muito saborosa. Certamente, sem conhecimento local, impossível conhecer um local destes!!!!

Recomendo El Salvador sem qualquer hesitação para surfistas e, também, famílias com filhos. O país é lindo, há SEMPRE ondas boas, ótimos hotéis e pousadas e o povo muito hospitaleiro.

Por fim, quero comentar sobre a questão da segurança do país, que sempre foi conhecido como um local violento e com risco para viajantes, por conta do histórico da guerra civil que já acabou há mais de 25 anos (em 1992).

Como disse, essa foi a terceira vez que estive em El Salvador. Em todos os locais onde me hospedei, surfei e andei nessas três viagens não presenciei nenhum ato de violência ou que me causasse insegurança. Por óbvio, como qualquer país em desenvolvimento, há suas mazelas sociais (como aqui no Brasil) e desde que você não ande em locais mais complicados como certos pontos das maiores cidades, não há problema algum. Os roteiros turísticos e praias são seguros e, agora em 2019, pude perceber uma presença maior e mais ostensiva de policiais nas ruas por onde passamos, o que sempre traz ainda mais tranquilidade.

Enfim, El Salvador vale a pena demais conhecer!!! E, melhor, se estiver com a assessoria de Maurício e SURF & TRIPS, poderá aproveitar MUITO MAIS sua viagem.

The surf in El Salvador is amazing. Mauricio knows all the breaks and understands how conditions effect each spot. He will put you in position to catch the wave of your life or pop up for the first time. Accessing the surf can be tricky due to El Salvador's rocky coast. Having a local guide is essential to match the break with your skills and avoid injury. Mauricio is the guide I recommend.
