Doi Mae Salong

Worth a visit if you're a tea enthusiast. It's advisable to go in a car with a more powerful engine than a sedan.

Mae Salong is best explored by driving, as the attractions are fairly far apart. Love the cool weather and Chinese Yunan food and culture. Enjoy the mountain view, tea plantation, hilltop temple and try the local food. Stay a night, or two.

This place is still incredible in atmosphere and living people even tribes in here.

Make sure you have Thai Baht with you, there is no money exchange up there! Best way to get around is by car or scooters. Those old buses and songthaews may break your bones and joints ! Lol, but they are a fun experience!

It’s stunning view, worth visiting! And have a chance to buy high quality Oolong tea! Most residents are Descendants of Kuomintang veterans of last century 70’s!

Great place for motorbike and see all around small city in Chiang Rai. A little difficult way to the top so prepare your motorbike correctly, the small one can go up :)

Doi Mae Salong is another place that is worth visiting in Chiang Rai. There are many tea plantations planted on the mountain, beautiful, clean and green. feel happy and fresh when visit here. You can stop by to taste tea or drink coffee on the mountain. There are restaurants at the village can choose as you prefer.

I am a repeat visitor to this place and it's consistently wonderful. Peaceful and usually cooler than anywhere else and Thailand. I love the oolong tea and always buy someone I'm here to take back home. The food is also wonderful and quite different than the usual Thai food. Many casual places to stay in town

Situated high in the mountains of Northern Thailand, Mae Salong is an amazing area. Stayed at a wonderful guest house and then visited the morning market before heading up the 718 steps to the Queen Mother's residence on the top of the hill. Once there, you could see forever. The view of the town below was beautiful. We visited the Chinese War Museum, the Tea Plantation, some hill tribes and then the afternoon market. It was a wonderful two days. It is worth the trip because it is out of the way and less traveled.

I like going up there after leaving Katiyllia hotel. Winding road and lots of tea shops. I bought a tea set with tea from another country. They have their own grown tea also. Scenic views and worth a day trip

The tea capital of Thailand. Detachments of General Duan, who came from China, brought with them a tea culture. Of course, tea does not compare with what is grown for centuries in neighboring China, but compared to what you can buy in Thai stores - quite good.

Yes, and those who are not so keen on tea as I can find something to do - clean mountain air, chic landscapes and very friendly people (however, like almost everywhere in Thailand)

Good memories going up over the years. I have always taken guest who visit Thailand up here and each one has always been captivated by being there.
