A really cute place with some really good food that just also happens to be the (alleged) origin of bubble tea? Definitely worth a visit if you're in Taichung.

I ordered the winter special dried shrimp soup with Thai lemon zest crispy chicken with a small bubble tea and they were all amazing.

The bubble tea had smaller bubbles than I normally see in bubble tea in the US which was interesting.

The space inside is really beautiful with art, a skylight and small fountains scattered around.

Had a wonderful breakfast here, they serve various traditional dishes. We had the heart beef soup noodles, some toast and other small dishes. The beef noodles is a blast, the soup is light yet hearty and the beef slices are tender and the noodles and great. The peanut toast has his thick layer of very nutty peanut butter. I prefer this more than the garlic toast( not saying that it's not delicious). The shumai is unique and juicy too. Excellent place for a great meal.

The pearl milk tea was fabulous. The tapioca balls were fresh so it had a soft chewy texture. The milk tea was creamy and refreshing.

The chicken wings were solid. They were juicy and well seasoned.

The vegetables were good too.

The brown sugar mochi was great too. It was also fresh and had the great soft but chewy texture like the boba.

Went on a friday around 12:30 PM and we only had to wait 20 minutes to get a table. The bubble tea is incredible! Ordered the classic bubble tea and the brown sugar but I definitely recommend the classic version. The tea shines through in the drink. It has a shaken/foamy texture which I appreciated a lot. Wished the pearls were softer. The vintage milkfish is also amazing. Service time is quick despite the number of people dining there. I recommend visiting the place if you’re going to Taichung!

This was our first meal of the Taiwan trip since I was despite to trying to first ever boba!
We were very lucky to have come around 10am on a Friday and was seated immediately in the backroom right next to the water fountain which really added to the dining experience.
We ordered an assortment of food with ofc the first ever boba. It tasted like nostalgia, before the whole boba business got out of hand and became would how long your name is and how flashy the packging and how many things you can put into tea...
Candidately the food was expensive for the portion size but I think it was well worth the visit.
They do a many shops through out Taiwan and Japan. But this is the original shop so stop by if you can!

Even though some people would call it cliché, I personally loved having Pearl Milk Tea at its origin! The vibe in the restaurant is great and you can also have some nice food from the restaurant.

We paid 90 NTD for the medium-size Bubble Tea + around 10 NTD for the service charge, but it was definitely worth it!

I don’t understand the approach that some may have that it’s overrated. For me it’s quite normal that a place with great historical significant will make a use out of it and market themselves well. Overall, the drive out to Taichung for the original Bubble Tea was a great experience and that’s also what you’re paying for ✨

Went to Chun Shui Tang for breakfast and the experience was extremely pleasant! We got the peanut toast breakfast set alongside the hot uva black tea and it was fantastic! They were very generous with the peanut butter as well. We also got the kungfu noodles and it was light and delicious. Also wanted to try the traditional bubble milk tea and it was thick and to our delight as well!

This place was little bit of walk to get to if you're commuting, but it was worth it. Milk teas were served generously in heavy duty glasses and tiny bobba to tea ratio was just right. The osmanthus tea was remarkable and the brown sugar tea was not too sweet. The service was very kind to assist and they spoke some English

Being the OG for bubble tea - this place lives up to their reputation. The pearls are small with a soft jelly texture. Their winter only ginger tea is lovely, especially with the brown jelly option.

There are other local food which we didn’t try. For the next trip!

Very good food and drinks, with a variety of snacks. Their bubble tea is a must try. Though the place is slightly on the expensive side compared to other places in Taichung.

Wow! Just found an awesome eatery with the best bubble tea I've ever tasted!

The restaurant merges traditional oriental flavors with modern innovation, resulting in a unique and delightful experience. Small tapioca pearls, delicate tea, and biting ice come together perfectly. Shaken into a foam, this concoction is truly magical.

The food is equally impressive, merging balance of flavors and textures. It's slightly pricier than regular eateries, but worth every penny. Locals and tourists alike sing its praises, making it a must-visit spot which boasts global recognition.

Don't miss out on this phenomenal culinary experience!

This is the birthplace of the Taiwanese bubble milktea! A must try when you're a bubble milktea lover!

In my opinion the milktea is much 'softer' than comparable milktea I have drank. Also the Tapioca bubbles were smaller than the ones I'm used to. However they were really delicious!!!

Waiting time was okay ~10 minutes.

PS: You have to order at the counter - you will then get a number that you place on your table.

The original milk tea was really good, the large size is 660ml so I recommend share it with your friend(s).

Highly raved by many and we decided to drop by. The food and bubble tea was great. We were lucky the queue was short when we reached. When we finished the meal and coming out, we overheard the staff saying there is 40mins waiting time. My recommendation is to go earlier before the lunch crowd comes or go slightly later after the lunch crowd finishes their meal. 😄

The home of boba tea!! I came here to try the pearl milk tea for the first time. It seemed perfect to go to the place the first made boba tea to try it for the first time ever! It did not disappoint, im hooked. They have a wonderful little cafe with food. We.also discovered you can go downstairs to the basement level for a quite comfortable dining experience.

AMAZING bubble tea, but what do you expect coming from the home of bubble tea? We had the brown sugar latte and the regular milk tea - and I’m telling you, you can’t miss this!

We went around 8pm and we were able to get a table outside.

We also tried their vegetarian noodles which was made with love!

Prices are really good compared to the quality you get

In life, many things do not live up to the hype.

This is one of few places that does. The boba here is spectacular and the dim sum is great too!

We ordered 3 drinks. Regular boba milk tea, brown sugar milk tea, and wheat germ milk tea. I didn't specify the sugar and ice levels to taste how the drinks were made originally. I'd say that everything tastes good! My favorite would be the brown sugar milk tea though. Every boba milk tea has got a foam on top, no flavour just adds the creaminess. The boba are very chewy too! Not the type that you have to bite for too long, and not the "half cooked" one too! The size of the boba was not too big and not too small. Just perfect, except for the price haha. It's a little pricey for a glass of milk tea, but I guess I can't complain since it is "the first boba milk tea" store.

Regular boba milk tea: 3/5 ⭐
Size: Medium
Price: 170 NTD
A bit basic, not too sweet.

Wheat germ milk tea: 4/5 ⭐
Size: Medium
Price: 170 NTD
Ordered this because I think the name's interesting. They came with the "wheat" flakes on top of the cream and milk tea. You gotta mix it first. No boba for this one. The milk tea tastes the same as the basic boba milk tea, the only difference is that you drink this with wheat flakes. Then again, drinking this doesn't make you feel like you're bored with the flavor too much.

Brown sugar boba milk tea: 5/5 ⭐
Size: Medium
Price: 200 NTD
Though my friend is the one who actually ordered this, I think this is the best one. The cream, the brown sugar, and the boba has perfect balance of flavour. Everything is mixed well together. Sweeter than the original milk tea, and I think it's enjoyable to drink (I like drinks that are a bit sweeter). Though, if you don't really like something that's not too sweet, but still wanna try this one, you can try the smaller glass or the wheat germ milk tea.

The employees were so nice, atmosphere was also great to hangout and talk to your friends too! They gave us 2 hours to stay there (so the place wouldn't be too crowded). The place is pretty for you to take pictures here too! (And of course a plus point for free wifi!). Didn't get to try the food right now, but would try next time!
