Double Check

Very well designed listening bar, with a proper sound system. Different DJs selecting music.
No entry fee. Space is limited. Drinks are between 200-400 TWD. They serve a good selection of Cocktails, spirits and craft beer.

Came here for the first time with a friend yesterday and the place was unfortunately fully booked - we managed to grab a table for 30 minutes or so before the party with the reservation arrived, but staff (Kido? sorry hope that's the right name, was a bit tipsy by the end) was super helpful and brought up some cushions for us to chill on the floor, even creating a bit of extra atmosphere with a candle and some complimentary shots for the inconvenience.

But honestly it was no inconvenience at all. In fact, sitting on the floor in a slightly more intimate, unexpected manner was great for conversation. I didn't feel like a customer but a guest — a guest who arrived at a crowded party, and even though the host had other obligations, made sure to check in on us once in a while to make sure we were having a good time. Just like any good house party with a live DJ, the sound was loud enough to focus on and enjoy despite the revelry of other guests — but not too loud that you have to shout to be heard. Some leaning may be required, but if you're with friends, that shouldn't be a problem. And if you're on a date, it could give you an excuse to sit closer ;)

Appearance-wise, Double Check has that low-incandescent light speakeasy vibe (and speakeasy-type entrance: the bar is hidden from street view by a wooden panel), and is beautifully decorated with books, magazines, leather chairs, and an assortment of artwork. It seems clear to me that the owners care about the place, and have decorated it to match a personal aesthetic they enjoy - and want to share.

To be fair, as a traveller I haven't been to many bars in Taipei so far... but Double Check set a high bar. Next time I'm back, I'm definitely bringing people with me.

This place is a hidden gems. Highly recommended for foreigners as well hence staff actually speak English and they are very accommodating. Hospitality is top notch. Cocktails are “fast” and “great” , on the rocks drinks are generously poured. Amazing vibe with great music by live DJ.
Most importantly no shows allowed, which makes me feel so comfortable after a long day of walking! Such a refreshing change of scenery comparing to the other bar we went to called “Book ing Bar”, which we wont be going back for sure!

Small, well decorated space and loungey vibe. Amazing music in the background that can get very loud. Limited craft cocktails although the bartender said they could make anything (didn't try for that). Owner was so gracious and very involved with this place. Would visit again!

Nice place, a bit hidden on the second floor in the back of the building. Drinks were great, jazz music chill & bartenders were welcoming and spoke English! Diverse crowd of people. Made some friends & got some complimentary drinks.

It's a nice bar in Taipei, but the music is a bit too harsh for the night. However, the two bartenders are fantastic and sweet.

My favorite bar in Taipei. Period. Amazing hifi sound system. Nice lighting and interior design. Love all the decorations. Ambience is just so good. I highly recommend this place.
