Din Tai Fung Taichung Branch

This store makes DTF what it truly is - taiwanese cuisine at its finest. Employees are top-notch, always excellent service with a smile (I was enjoying a xiaolongbao and my hot tea and ice water refilled like magic).

We LOVE this place and will keep dining here twice a week at least!

I have been to this location multiple times. I had the brown fried rice and chicken xiaolong baos. Tasted delicious. Waited only 5 mins to get seated.

Friendly and kind staff, ordered food coming really fast, cleanliness was awesome, place usually crowded. I think the egg yolk bun was the best, coming with shrimp fried rice and chocolate dumpling ( taste of the chocolate was bitter & combined with sweet dumpling ) all was awesome taste ! Price is equal with what you will get. Surely will be back here next time !

The pinnacle of modern Chinese cousins and xiao long bao. Been there for many years and the food and service never disappoints. It’s a must go every time I go back to Taiwan.
Without a doubt a must eat while in Taiwan.
Overall quite pricey and normally there’s a queue but still well worth it.
My 7 years old nephew would cry if I go without him.

Everything is good. Wontons were particularly delicious.

As most of you know, I'm much more of a fan of small mom and pop places with homemade, simple yet delicious food, especially in Asia. But my goodness, Din Tai Fung's focus and delivery of consistency, professionalism, and deliciousness is absolutely amazing. Their various dumplings are magnificently scrumptious, the soups are rich and fragrant and superbly seasoned, the noodles al dente (QQ) and yummy, and the service totally impeccable. Go early, sign up for a table, and watch the dumpling creators work their magic, and then enjoy one of the best meals in Taichung.

Update (20 July 2024):
I received a call from Din Tai Fung's management to apologise for our poor experience on 6 July 2024. We discussed that the business should be human centric and consider individual circumstances in regard to its policy and procedures. To make up for our poor experience, management invited us to dine at the restaurant without having to wait in a queue. We did so on 20 July 2024 and received an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff at the entrance provided a seat for my elderly father and we were greeted warmly by the reception. We were brought to our table shortly afterwards. The food was amazing as usual and the table service was immaculate.
Thank you for the outstanding experience to all the staff at the Taichung branch. My father was especially impressed with the attention to detail by your staff. We will be back.

I usually give very good reviews of Din Tai Fung around the world - Taipei, Taichung, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne.
However the staff at this Din Tai Fung treated us with appalling and indifferent attitudes.
We arrived at 7.30pm on Friday 6 July 2024, with my 83-year-old father who is disabled. We were greeted by an indifferent male waiter at the front counter who told us we can't be put on the wait list because there were too many people waiting.
I told the male waiter to look at my disabled and elderly father and said it was very difficult for him to go to have dinner there.
The male waiter refused to even look at my father and told us to go away and get takeaway instead. We said we could wait but was refused again.
My father couldn't even walk very far and was tired from standing. The waiter did not care at all. All he cares about was following company policy, irrespective of the situation.

We were shocked and hurt by your company's insistence on following policy and rules. Your business should be human-centric, and exceptions should be made where appropriate.

In this case, it was inappropriate to refuse entry to an elderly disabled person who has come a long way to dine there. It was also wrong for the male waiter to be so rude and indifferent to us.

We will not return. Your treatment of the elderly and the disabled is appalling and inhumane.

Enjoyed a fabulous dinner on a Wednesday night. Dumplings are fantastic. Tried the pork, truffle, crab Xiao Lung bow. My favorite was the pork. 👍

Also tried a great steamed dumplings. My favorite was the pork+vegetables.

Other memorable dishes was the eggplant, cucumber, noodles with pork, and the spicy won tons.

Would definitely come back again 😄.

Here it is !!! Din Tai Fung... i also believe that it's quite famous in the world too. Finally i can eat this restaurant for the first time in my life. Actually because my girlfriend told me that this is one of the must-eat list in your life (Hahaha ^3^), so i'm gonna introduce to you guys my girlfriend recommendation.

1. Xiao long bao (210 NT / 10 Pcs)
This is top recommendation when you come here. At first, i thought what kind of xiao long bao would be this expensive (maybe i eat too many night market affordable food). But after i bite this food, i feel so happy LOL. The skin is so soft, so can even tear it off just using your lips. As on the TV, there are so much soup coming out from the inside, and you will need a spoon to hold it up. This XLB is superb ~

2. Braised Beef Noodle Soup (250 NT)
There are 3 options of the beef part you like to serve in this noodle soup. You can smell this noodle when the waiter serve it to your table hmmmm~ I kind of surprised when i eat the noodle, I never taste this kind of noodle texture before, it's really smooth yet you won't feel tired of it when you eat a lot. The soup is little spicy which is very appetizing, also it doesn't has any "BEEF aroma" maybe in some other restaurant's beef noodle you would taste. So, it's good too...

3. Shrimp Fried Rice (230 NT)
Many people said, the more simple the food is, the more difficult to make a tasteful one. I think we can use this "phrase" in this fried rice. DELICIOUS! For me as "fried rice" lover, the rice, egg, aroma, saltiness, shrimp freshness, all of the ingredients mixed in the good portion, i can't stop myself when i started too eat this. Now i know why they dare to put high price for just fried rice.

4. Shrimp & Pork Steamed Dumpling (180 NT)
I never eat this food before, because as i know that usually this food is really spicy and i can't handle it. When this dumpling served, the red sauce in it very interesting, so remember to mixed it up first before eat it (maybe there's someone who like to just dip it rather than mixed it~ based on people's interest). It doesn't feel spicy at all, instead it more taste sour and salty at the same time. And the shrimp is very big too, oh yeah this dumpling skin and XLB skin is different, so don't be afraid to order both of them because you won't get tired of eating it.

Okay, the conclusion is when you want something more hygiene, nice service, and clean environment, i can recommend you come to this place. And they will refill you the hot tea every time you finish drinking the tea (the tea is good too, it's sugar-free). Feel so relieved coming here

PS : remember too make some reservation first, otherwise you have to wait more than 15 minutes if you just come on-site ^3^

You won't have any complaints, delicious as usual. The staffs are friendly and polite, the food are yum 😋

Had the chance to have a lunch there once and it is still one of the best restaurants I've ever visited in Taiwan. Food was amazing. So many different 饺子 I've never had one with the shrimp before. Staff were very kind and service was so quick. Price was normal I guess but it is totally worth it.

Can't go wrong with DTF. Like McDonald's, great consistency in their products throughout their locations. Everything is good. I would avoid the special xiao long baos and just stick with the original.

This is just a must go place, food is amazing. I had to wait two hours for a table, it is normal and it is worth it. Do not give up...just wait!

Great part of the franchise. Just like any other Din Tai Fung that you go to. Try the pork cutlet with fried rice. DELISH! Also, the chicken xiao long bao are really good as well. Can't go wrong with the pork xiao long bao either. If you want an interesting dessert try the chocolate xiao long bao.

Some of the best Xiaolongbao I have ever had. The service was fantastic and the noodles were full of flavor. If you are in Taiwan you have to go here.

DTF, what can you say.! You won't be disappointed no matter what you order. The regular dumping is a must to have although they do carry various dumping.

Happy food place! Consistently excellent food and exceptional customer service. (No wonder there’s always a wait...it’s worth it.)
