Utengule Coffee Lodge

Such a magical and beautiful place. I felt so at peace staying at the Utengule Lodge. Situated in the mountains outside of the bustling Mbeya, stunning views, with plenty to do during a restful weekend. The rooms were so comfortable and cozy. I slept peacefully and awoke to the sound of birds every morning. Excellent food, coffee and service. Some lovely memories here and I hope to be back one day. Highly recommend!

Beautiful location and rooms were amazing. Atmospheric bar area and restaurant. Had a guided tour round coffee plantation which as a coffee fanatic was really interesting. Bought a bag of espresso ground rift valley coffee which we drank over Xmas and is our favorite coffee now.

The place great. Has a beautiful sunset 🌇 view. An helicopter shuttle. Volleyball court, tennis court, and a swimming pool.

TAKE THE TOUR THROUGH THE COFFEE FARM! It is really great and you get to learn a lot about coffee!

What a beautiful place! Incredible views over the Rift Valley, warm and personable staff. Debbie the manager would so kind and helpful, the team even baked a birthday cake and sang for my partner! Food is delicious as is the coffee. A peaceful place to spend a few days recharging and exploring the nature of the surrounding area.

AMAZING place!!!! The owners have been there for only 5 weeks. Normally it’s a very peaceful place. We arrived as a couple without reservation with special request at rush hour and they managed to arranged everything and serve everyone accordingly. Impressive work, great food and beautiful views.

A beautiful coffee farm with a flat camping site and excellent restaurant. What more could you wish for?

Takes minute to get there and the raid is not great, but beautiful place, million dollar view. Food is good (little pricey). The pool and squash and tennis courts nice. I enjoyed several games

10/10. We brifely met the director of the lodge and was very friendly. Invited us for dinner and to a local football match at his coffee farm/factory. Very Clean place to stay.Must try the coffee tour with abdo as he explains as he shares his knowledge and facts about all types of coffee and how its made step by step. At the end of the tour you will be having coffee tastinh from the award winning coffee farm. Highly recommend

One of the most expensive places you can stay in Mbeya, but they do a really good job.
The rooms were clean, the setting beautiful, the food delicious, and the service simply spectacular.

A hiden southern gem, a calm peaceful serenity with beautiful sunset views. The service is on point. If you want a place that you can rejuvenate this is the place. They also offer different excursions in the southern Tanzania, and I think they covered most areas on tours.
The good thing is they also offer a small space for campers as well.

3. Variety of activities outdoorsand indoor(volleyball, tennis, swimming, nature walk in the coffee bushes, pool table) and the prices are kind of friendly 🤤 but it's worth every peny of it.

Did i mention the unlimited Wi-Fi? No restrictions

Honestly this was the best hotel/lodge I have ever stayed in my entire life.

Nice pool, tennis courts, & beautiful views, but what made the difference was the people. By far the nicest staff I have met. Special shout out to Debbie & Abdullah who made the stay extra special!!!

An oasis of beauty and tranquility with a stunning view out over the local valley. This place has everything - a charming and kind manager, superb staff, yummy food, excellent accommodation and a pool/facilities to dream of. We came to Mbeya planning to stay for a day or two and have spent four here at Utengule. That says it all!

Perfect place to explore the Southern Highlands. We stayed 4 nights and would have stayed longer. Great accommodation with soft white bedding and awesome hot showers. Fabulous food and of course excellent coffee as well as welcoming and helpful staff. A perfect location for nature lovers as the bird life in the grounds and surrounding forests is excellent. We all enjoyed incredible views over the Rift Valley as we relaxed on our verandah. We came with the family and went on a number of lovely hikes organized by the hotel. The kids loved the multitude of sporting activities available and room to run around the grounds.

Nestled amidst coffee picturesque ambience, and the lodge's genuine passion for coffee, coupled with serene surroundings and top quality customer service makes this place must visit when in Mbeya.

A must visit if you are ever in the Mbeya region. Not cheap but worth the cost. Road to the lodge is quite bumpy but not too bad. Great chef, great kitchen and great food. Pets not allowed. Nice pool but looks quite cold. Scenic setting with beautiful views.

I don’t say this lightly, but Utengule Coffee Lodge is perfection. Within the first hour of being at the lodge, we changed all our subsequent travel plans to extend our stay. There is not a single negative thing to say about this place and if you’re love coffee, just do yourself a favour and make the booking.

The location is exquisite with a gorgeous view of the distant hills, valleys and surrounding coffee farms. The staff are attentive, professional and seem to go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The hospitality shown by Debbie (the manager), Abdul (the receptionist) and the rest of the team is genuine and warm. For our last dinner the team set up a special table for us, knowing that we were on our honeymoon.

The food and drinks are incredible - especially the coffee! The menu was healthy, delicious and varied. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal. We had an coffee mousse for desert one night... we still crave it.

The grounds of the hotel and the rooms themselves are amazing. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and elegant. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. We hadn’t slept that well in a long time!

The hotel boasts a pool, tennis court, volleyball court, masseuse, gorgeous gardens and more. There is plenty to do here to keep you occupied. Although, the setting is so relaxing you may just want to take it easy and enjoy.

If you want to get out and about, the staff at Utengule have you covered. Make sure you do the coffee plantation tour - fascinating and delicious! Abdul went out of his way to take us on a hike to an incredible waterfall (which is on the property - if you can believe it!).

My husband and I are driving from Cairo to Cape Town. By this stage we have almost traversed the continent and can safely put Utungule amongst our favourite experiences. Our only regret is that we have to leave.
