Awesome and original store. One gets not only fruits and vegetables and rare items, but also fresh, prepared food that can be eaten on site or taken home. Great place!!!

For the area this is a wonderful market and community space. Every Saturday morning in the cooler season live musical performances are performed. This market sells produce, baked goods, and locally grown and made items. This is the only market in the area where one can buy healthy food. Definitely a worthy local business to support!

I have to agree with the Carolyn Jones review. Everything is organic, the staff is super friendly and informative, not only about their products, but things to do in the area. The food is delicious, and they have live music on Wednesday starting at 4:00.

Tucked just of the main square in Paoli is this treasure trove of deliciousness! It's a wonderful little grocery store/deli with fresh produce, ready made sandwiches, great yummy cheeses, cold drinks in glass bottles, locally made artisan items and so much more. If you're nearby and you like food or cool things, or are in the mood to shop, stop in and visit them! The staff members are friendly and are happy to answer questions about anything in the store.
My husband bought a gorgeous cedar salmon board that well use as a cutting board for veggies. The are also locally made soaps, bags, shorts, washcloths, and more.
We're spending a few nights in an Airbnb in the basement of the old Carnegie library across the street and are beyond thrilled that there's a local shop for food. So glad we discovered this great little market!

We loved this place. A friend from Ramsey met us there for lunch. It's an hour drive from Louisville and worth every minute. We loved the locally sourced food, the outside seating, the friendly atmosphere, and particularly the fabulous desserts. Large cookies, pies, brownies, etc. We will be back for sure.

This is a different kind of grocery store. It has bins where you can get things by weight, pour it in a little bag, have it weighed, and pay. Of course, they have some of the regular groceries, cans, meats, pops, wines, etc...packaged and ready to go. Here you can get just a cup of sugar or just 2 cups of flour for a certain recipe. And they aren't big on the big brand names. You're going to be able to check new rarely known brands. I know some who love it and rave about it. I know others who don't know what to do there and hate. I think its a fun way to shop. I wouldn't do it every week or everyday, but its nice to visit and see what you find.

One of the best customer service and also clean place to shop , you can get high quality food products. If I could give this place seven stars I would. I highly recommend it.

So happy I found this treasure while en route to Louisville! I needed a calm, healthy place to eat, do some work on my laptop, and warm up with great tea, and they had it all! The food in the deli was very, very good and I discovered some new teas. It's like a cool coffee shop with local art, a quick, delicious deli, and a great health food store with knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Half a sub and cup of soup special for 5.99. Great value, all natural and delicious! I really enjoyed the veggie wrap and the Moroccan Chickpea soup was outstanding :) Drink prices are a bit steep.

Lost River is always a pleasure to shop at. The local produce and proteins are high quality and, occasionally, like today, offered at better than big box prices. I also like the availability of bulk, self serve, flour, grains and spices. Altogether, very much what a retail store should be about.

Fresh amazing food! This is our go to place when we're traveling from Louisville to Bloomington.

New visit 12/27/20, Sunday 3pm.
So we walked into The Lost River Cafe only to see one of the older shorter female workers with highlights in her hair, NO MASK, during a pandemic, cracking 2 nuts that were for sale with her bare hands. She proudly succeeded in cracking the nuts and tried to get the cashier, a young male with black hair who we later found has an auto immune disease, to EAT THE NUTS that she'd just cracked with her unwashed hands and her mouth talking 100 miles an hour-spit and all. He graciously declined.
So she said she'll just put them in the kitchen so they can be used to make something else for the next unsuspecting customer!!!!!! Remember she had no MASK OR GLOVES.

This same worker was ALL OVER THE STORE LOUDLY talking NON STOP spit flying everywhere. My husband is immunosuppressed.
The kind cashier assured us that this lady (we complained to him about her but he didn't have authority to address it) didn't make the items we were contemplating to purchase.
We would have purchased MANY MORE PRODUCTS had it not been for this careless worker.

TOO BAD. This is one of our very favorite places to visit. One careless person can ruin it!

Nice little store, friendly staff.
I picked up a few items I couldn't get closer to home. Saturday is Community Day and I got 10% off. I'll definitely be going back.

The people are super friendly and the food was delicious. Wonderful hidden gem we found on our two day vacation. We are from NW Indiana and stopped by on our way to Marengo Cave.

Lost River Market is THE PLACE to go when you need good bacon (and all kinds of other local produce and goods) and nothing else will do. The friendliest people work here.

Local market. Most of the merchandise was from local farms / artisans. My wife found 100% alpaca wool that got her really excited because it was from a local alpaca.
