Laconia General Store

Was trying to find some backways to get from home to Louisville, KY and put alot of trust into Google maps! Sure enough we got to drive through the area of Laconia, IN and couldn't resist a stop at this lovely one gas pump general store! If passing through this area, definitely schedule in 10 mins or so to visit this general store. Friendly person working and nice assortment of snacks and drinks. Didn't get to try any of their deli offerings, but certainly will if ever in the area again! Couldn't resist getting a Tshirt!! To the proprietor(s), thank you for operating such a cool place!

The Staff members were so friendly and helpful. The Breaded Pork Tenderloin and onion rings were delicious!! 😀

We stop here anytime we are riding through. Love the cold bottled pops. They are a treat. They also have a deli for lunch sandwiches.

Had a last minute thanksgiving run I had to make. Called to see when they closed, Donna said 12:00, it was 11:57.

I figured I was out of luck, she said "I got you bade, just head on in" I let her know I was 8 min away, she insisted.
Got there shared a laugh for a sec and left. Saved T-day through kindness.

We just moved here from a city of 5 million. I hope people around here value how special and rare this kind of service and humanity is.

When I was a kid we would go to the General Store when we visited my Boone grandparents. I took my adult kids to the store last weekend and was very pleased! We had wonderful deli sandwiches and the lady at the checkout was so sweet to take our pictures. We got Laconia General Store tshirts, which I’m wearing right now. I’m so gratified to see that my memories of childhood are still there. We absolutely LOVED the Democrat and Republican liars bench. When I was a kid they were just called the liars bench and I’m glad to see that things are friendly! We will be back!!

We’re at a conference in downtown Louisville, and wanting to get out of the city for a few hours, I found Laconia, Indiana on the map & set out. An hour later, I found myself in front of the Laconia General Store at noon. Inside, I stopped at the counter to ask for a sandwich - pickle pimento loaf, pepper jack cheese, whole wheat, and spicy mustard. That, plus a quart of water, set me back $7.75.
A few minutes later, after perusing the historical articles under the glass tabletops, my *huge* sandwich was ready. Wow - two quarter-inch thick slices of meat, a quarter-inch thick slice of cheese, and two thick slices of bread!
I took a leisurely drive down to the Ohio River, parked on top of a cliff on The Narrows Road, and enjoyed my meal along with a spectacular view of the lazy river.

Wonderful Country Town Store.
They have wonderful locally made hot dogs; right in their Deli. Hot pizza on demand along with a really nice bottle of coke. Nothing fancy just a great atmosphere inside and out.

A country store straight out of the 50s, friendly and professional we stopped in for a drink ended up staying for a ham egg and cheese biscuit ate at the tables inside the store. This is America you don’t see anymore. Refreshing!

Brings back many childhood memories.
Friendly staff, great food, RC Cola and Moon Pies. The next time I visit, I plan to pour a package of peanuts into a bottle of RC and watch it fizz. Nothing better with a Moon Pie on a hot afternoon. Give Laconia General Store a try, you won’t be disappointed

This general store reminds me of the one my Pops used to take me to as a child. Friendly hometown feel. The pizza rocks and orders can be phoned in for pick up.

Great place! They have pretty much everything that I have ever needed in their store. Their pizza is the best pizza ive ever had!!
